Couric Gets Bush Interview For CBS Debut
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2006/08/29/couric-gets-bush-intervie_n_28258.html

In a high-profile interview coinciding with her debut as CBS Evening News anchor next week, Katie Couric will sit down with President George W. Bush to discuss homeland security for an upcoming special, the network said on Monday

The CBS News special on the aftermath of September 11, titled "Five Years Later: How Safe Are We?," will air next Wednesday with reports examining the continuing threat of future attacks, the nation's state of readiness and how Americans are coping with post-9/11 fears and anxiety
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope Katie brings her "serious" eyesglasses to the interview so she can hit him with the hardball questions! :eyes:

Why would she? What reward would she get for asking the President Tough Questions?

ABC for national news, CBS for local news. Ever since I caught some of Pete Wilson's talk show on KGO, I can't watch him on the nooze. Blech.

35. I'm also a former cbs watcher.

I watch Charlie Gibson now on ABC. Give him a try--I think he's an honest journalist. Although all of the mainstream media is intimidated by the administration to some extent--comes with the package. Better than CNN's or MSNBC's mostly whorish coverage.

edit: actually, I approached this scientifically. I watched all three networks for two weeks--well, two of them each night, in rotation--and decided whose stories were more informative and interesting. ABC won by a wide margin for me. CBS second, NBC third.

... would love to have a Cronkite moment here... Bush won't allow it though... there will be a few second delay I am sure... beside Katie wouldn't do it.

But what would ask if you had the interview. Have to be a quick and dirty question.

She IS the anchor of the network that caved to right wing hissy-fits over telling a true story about bush. The toughest question she'll probably ask is weather he enjoyed reading Camus Or shakespere more this summer :sarcasm: . And then she'll take his line of bullshit at face value :dunce: !

36. She is a tool
The * admin pushed Rather out (probably set him up with the TANG letter stuff) and now Couric is in and they reward her with a * interview to kick off.

Michael Moore exposed her true colors in this exchange:

COURIC: You use images of Iraq before the invasion. And if I recall, you have pictures of, film of children playing in playgrounds. You sort of hear the sounds of children laughing.
MOORE: Yeah.

COURIC: You have people eating in outdoor cafes. But even people, Michael, who are vehemently opposed to the war would tell you Saddam Hussein was a tyrannical despot—

MOORE: Mm-hmm.

COURIC: who killed people—

MOORE: Mm-hmm.

COURIC: for absolutely no reason.

MOORE: That’s correct.

COURIC: A murderer.

MOORE: Mm-hmm.

COURIC: And wouldn’t your movie have been better balanced if you had at least included some about Saddam Hussein’s own reputation?

MOORE: You guys did such a good job of telling us how tyrannical and horrible he was. You already did that. What—the question really should be posed to NBC News and all of the other news agencies: Why didn’t you show us that the people that we’re going to bomb in a few days are these people, human beings who are living normal lives, kids flying kites, people just trying to get by in their daily existence? And as the New York Times pointed out last week, out of the 50 air strikes in those initial days, the—we were zero for 50 hitting the target. We killed civilians and we don’t know how many thousands of civilians that we killed. And nobody covered that. And so for two hours, I’m going to cover it. I’m going to—out of four years of all of this propaganda, I’m going to give you two hours that says here’s the other side of the story.

29. Of course she does!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could we be any more obvious? Remove the old guy (who you know-was probably a journalist before little Katie was born-but we that would be ageism and don't worry I'm going be sexist too-I hate the PC bullshit-let's call the propaganda by it's real name) that DARES to question the great leader and replace with the nice lady who has kids to feed and whose main concern in life is her own welfare. I understand, Katie, but seriously I do believe you could already retire with the millions you made on the Today show.

But I know, you "believe" you are a journalist. I'm sure you are going to have dear Prez reaasure us how safe he is make us when any idiot could have figured out more lives could have been saved just by having OUR national Guard in the US instead of Iraq. See, this is the nation they are to protect, not Iraq.

Oh and catapult the fear dear Katie, I'm sure your kids will never have to serve in any wars.
