4. The capture of a vicious child molester isn't news?

Look at your newspaper. There's sports, weather, metro news, etc. etc. Not everything is beat bush 24/7. It's not a conspiracy, it's legit news when a guy like that is captured. Finally.

As tragic as the JonBenet murder was, one child's murder is really local news material.

The capture of the FBI's number one fugitive is national news.

9. This arrest is important. No matter what we may want to be covered,

other news, important news still goes on in the world, and the arrest of a man responsible for a cult engaged in rape, child abuse, statutory rape, tax evasion, welfare and other fraud is a big story.

Child molestation on this scale isn't silly, or a distraction.

The 24/7 cable news cycle does mean that every story, important, mundane or silly, does get repeated ad nauseum, and that is a problem.
