What if W died & we suddenly had president cheney?
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 11:56 AM by Philosoraptor
Would things basically go on as they are or would it change things drastically?

Those in the know realize that its cheney who actually is the president, so things might just continue on, seeing how that's how its supposed to work, carry on the late president's agenda in his honor etc.

But its something we should actually be thinking about, anything could happen, bush could keel over with a massive stroke or run into a tree on his bike like Sonny Bono skiing, and then, president cheney.

Who would be dick's vice president? karl? condi? How would it sit with folks to have president cheney? He's not really a good one to have at the helm with his bad ticker, but he is the actual president already, so is it irrelevant?

And what if president cheney keels over? I guess I just don't have enough to worry about.

1. Cheney would be the first president to rule from Undisclosed Locations.n/t

2. We already have president Cheney.
You would see a bigger change if he croaked than if the dimson croaked. Still, I doubt there would be much difference either way.

4. Actually, don't you think the sheer joy and excitement of
actually becoming prez would toast his ticker pretty quick. I can just see him in total elation for a minute or two, then keeling over from heart failure. ...And all the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn't put crashcart's heart back together again.

6. Isn't this part of the plan?
I mean, with so much hatred focussed on Bush as the incompetent, if Bush were suddenly to run into...oh, I don't know, some disposable person carrying a GUN...wouldn't his death allow Cheney, Rove and their backers to put all the blame on the "martyred President" and continue to rule in his name?

IF you folks are paranoid enough to think that Bush was smart enough to engineer September 11, you should be paranoid enough to believe that Bush could be scheduled for assassination by his own people.

20. No, that was Neil who had dinner plans with Hinkley's brother.
With Marvin, you need to keep an eye on where he's employed. For instance, about 5 years ago he was the head of the company which provided security for the World Trade Center.

22. * wasn't smart enough to engineer 9/11.
but those who did would off him without a second thought. Their choice for VP, after Cheney's promotion, would be the instant frontrunner for the 08 elections.

8. cheney could fill in as puppet just as easily as chimpy does....
they both serve the same masters. cheney's a lot smarter than the chimp but equally as annoying.

13. Dick's approval rating is 20 points lower than Junior's
That would create some real problems for the corporate media. There is really no way to present Cheney as someone you'd like to have a beer with. And Dick can't suddenly develop a folksy accent (many Americans have already heard him speak). I guess the image handlers would wwork the Western/Wyoming theme- expect a white cowboy hat.

16. Dick's approval numbers are lower than Chimpie's...
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the total sum of both Bush and Cheney's approval numbers is lower than Clinton's at the height of impeachment!

19. you're probably right
and if we were able to get an honest report from the msm we'd probably see that cheney's approval rating is a negative number.

10. We couldn't laugh at Chimpy's stupidity anymore
Other than that, nothing would change. Cheney's been in charge all along. And he'd probably still be in his "undisclosed location" underneath the Denver International Airport more than in the White House.

As far as Dick's VP, it would be whomever PNAC wanted for President in 2008, so they would have the benefit of "incumbency". Or maybe he would pick Holy Joe, just to piss everyone off.

But somehow it's harder to laugh at him. I'd be too afraid he'd send me to an undisclosed location or something.

mill says. Cheney though doesn't have the popularity of *. Even the freepers don't like him that much so I think it would be much easier to get an impeachment rolling on him.
