Cut and Run Amok - By Art Buchwald
Cut and Run Amok

By Art Buchwald
Tuesday, August 29, 2006

.................

The president believes that if we don't stop them in Iraq, the Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds and terrorists will come to Crawford, Tex.

.....................

Bush was so concerned that he gave public relations companies contracts to plant newspaper stories about the good things going on in Iraq.

I ate it all up because I don't like downbeat stories either. Unfortunately, I hang out with a bunch of defeatists, and they can't find anything good to say about what's going on in Iraq. They are the same people who didn't like the idea of us going into Vietnam. It's hard to be in their company for too long, particularly since I keep quoting President Bush whenever I get a chance.

It's too late to cut and run in Iraq. It's even too late for the president to say he made a mistake.

Since it's a nice day, I think I'll go to the beach.

1. I wish people would have understood it was wrong at the outset.

2. A lot of us did...
...more people marched against this war worldwide than any other war in my lifetime.

In England, Spain, and Italy vast majorities of the electorate were against the war.

The problem was nobody in their governments listened.

So much for democracy...

4. Indeed! I marched before the war, and never had I been so hopeful
and then so quickly been so disappointed.

In February my dear "Unka Artie" (I was born on his birthday and we've corresponded for years) went OFF dialysis and into hospice care. He was given six weeks to live.:rofl::rofl: OBVIOUSLY he's still got some fight left in him to tell it like it is, as he's ALWAYS done!!!
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

8. We have a dear old cat who also went into kidney failure
around the same time. Vet said 'he's a goner'. We took him home, loved him, gave him subq drip every other day and despite being pronounced dead cat walking he is also moving on with his life. It seems that he and our old friend Mr. Buchwald are mysteriously linked.
