4. I'm Sorry , Didn't See Your Question
He was with Pedro on Washington Journal, so he was taking questions from callers.

He did beautifully, giving clear answers to the question asked and then using the opportunity to voice a further discussion on the subject.

While neither my wife nor I were particularly please with his answers to 2nd Amendment quesitons (we are gun owners and do not stand for attempts to deny us our right to bear arms), he is still a man either of us would vote for were he running here.

5. Thank you so much! C-span comes through
this time!

I've changed a lot on that whole 2nd Amendment..I don't have a gun nor know how to work it but the way things are goin' it was be suicidal not to have the right to own one.

I don't know how Lamont stands on that but surely he's not sayin' the right should be taken away?

9. AK-47's have been tightly controlled since 1934...
by the Title 2/Class III provisions of the National Firearms Act, as are all other automatic weapons. It is possible for a civilian with a squeaky-clean record to get government clearance to own one (via a BATFE Form 4), but since even the least collectible civilian-transferable AK-47's sell for about $15,000 USD, few people bother. All AK-47's and other automatic weapons manufactured since 1986 are restricted to military/police/government use only, no exceptions.

It is legal in the U.S. to own a NON-automatic civilian rifle that looks much like an AK-47, but functions like an ordinary self-loading sporting rifle. I own one myself (a 2002-model Romanian SAR-1).

Since all rifles combined account for less than 3% of homicides per the FBI--less than half as many as are perpetrated using fists and feet--I see no reason to try to ban civilian rifles with handgrips that stick out (including mine), and it is attempts to do so that perpetuate the "Dems'll take yer guns" meme.

10. Here"s A Link So You Can Watch It Right Now Or Later
C-Span makes most of their broadcasts available shortly after the initial broadcase. The Lamont interview (on Washington Journal, the call-in show) is at the top of the page on the link below:
