My Brother Veteran and friend Max Cleland seeks treatment PTSD
Washington -Former U.S Sen. Max Cleland, who has battled bouts of depression since losing three limbs in Vietnam,Is being treated for PTSD.
http://www.vawatchdog.org

I have known Max for six years now. I met him during the Kerry run in 2004. Max is having a hard time like a lot of us veterans. We see news from Iraq and it is triggering night dreams again.Since this war began Vietnam vets have been seeking treatment for PTSD.

War never leave you. But when you see a War that was started with lies it hurt even more. We know these kids are going to be treated like dirt when they come home. Under this President we have lost more and more of our benefits. Max like me are still angry about a defeat to Kerry caused by liars called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. We are no longer being held back. We will fight these new swift boat veterans.

Max in my heart and mind get better soon we need you out here

1. Earlier today there was a thread
suggesting that we send Max flowers to show him our appreciation. Would you know how to get them to him if someone were to take this on?

5. Tell him for me that he is my hero
this is a lot of tough talk nowadays but he is the real deal, he did a lot for this country
both in Nam and in DC. If we can get this current crop of chickenhawks out of office, I hope
that we can send him back to DC where he belongs. He represents everything that's good about
this country. Tell him not to give up, we the American people have not forgotten him.

Miss Waverly

:-)

I pray every night for this country, my best friend's son has been called to fight over in Baghdad, he is 55 and in the National Guard. She is 81, a widow and has no other family.
I pray that we get some sense and real leadership in this country to handle these terrible
problems that we have.

15. thank you, Monkeyman
the posts can help, I was so down after the 04 election, and all I heard on Tv was blah, blah,
blah, get over it. I knew my machine defaulted to Bush 5 times and nobody wanted to listen.
I came here to DU and I read Bleever's thread every night and it helped keep me going during
those dark days. I am sorry that he has had such a hard time since 02, but he's still a
good person and a good at representing his constituents. His time will come again, just
like spring follows winter.

9. Prayers and love to you, Senator Cleland
:patriot:

My brother-in-law is a Viet Nam War vet. I've seen what it's doing to him. I would imagine Senator Cleland is going through the exact same thing.

11. I teared up reading this
War never leave you. But when you see a War that was started with lies it hurt even more. We know these kids are going to be treated like dirt when they come home.

I can't imagine the rage and saddness that Max must feel after all that he lost in Vietnam to be treated so badly by those flag waving chickenhawks who are now treating a new generation of vets with disdain.

Be well, Max  :patriot:

16. I love that man
Earlier today I was speaking with my father about how the Iraq war was beginning to trigger veterans of the VietNam War.

When organizations and corporations attempt to calculate the "cost" of the Iraq war, they will now have to factor in the damage it is doing to our beloved Viet Nam Veterans. Bush has now reopened old wounds, and I am so angry I cannot even type the correct words to describe what I am feeling.

I'll just attempt to substitute my absolute HATE towards this administration with absolute LOVE towards those who are suffering under this ungodly oppression.

17. I met him in '04 as well.
He took time out to talk to me about my experience the first time in Iraq, and I thanked him for standing up for the troops there now.

He was truly a kind spirited man.

I send my best wishes to him.

19. I had a Vet friend die after repeated episodes of PTSD (new treatment!!!)
He was a medic in Nam and had repeated episodes lapsing for 24 years,
I think it finally shorten his life.
I hope Max the best and that the troops return home soon.

On a brighter note.

I am right now studying a new psychological process and hoped to be trained in it, that has had great 99% success with PTSD treatment of
civilians in Kosovo who had witnessed or experienced rape, torture and witnessing deaths of love ones etc.

The process is called energy psychology.
websites are here:

www.emofree.com
www.EnergyPsychologhyinteractive.com
www.energypsychEd.com
www.handoutbank.org

The book I began with is The Promise of Energy Psychology revolutionary tools for dramatic personal change
by Dr.David Feinstein, Donna Eden, and Gary Craig

28. Not like emdr at all
The process involves building upon conventional therapeutic methods, Energy Psychology utilizes techniques from acupressure, yoga, qi gong, and energy medicine that teach people simple steps for initiating changes in their inner lives. It works by stimulating energy points on the surface of the skin which, when paired with specific psychological procedures, can shift the brain’s electrochemistry(which has been documented) to:

Help Overcome Fear, Guilt, Shame, Jealousy, or Anger
Change Unwanted Habits and Behaviors
Enhance the Ability to Love, Succeed, and Enjoy Life...............

An Academic Abstract of the process is available here, I can't legally cut and paste: http://www.innersource.net/energy_psych/epi_research.htm

The new process has been review by the American Psychological Association, Clinical Psychology, Institute of Noetic Science and The Journal of the Association for Professional Hypnosis & Psychotherapy among others.

30. Senator Max.... you have tremendous anonymous support
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 12:32 AM by hlthe2b
out here.... Your courage is so inspiring. I send you all the positive thoughts and energy that I can and pray for your emotional support during this very difficult time. Depression is truly debilitating. I can only hope that you will find some of the spirit that has kept the comedic pundit, Art Buchwald going--well past the point where he was told to (and had fully prepared for) death...

Be well, Senator and, I pray, find happiness in your life-- despite the immense difficulties. You are a beloved example to so many...
