Deadly weekend for US troops in Iraq - Huh?
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 03:33 PM by Lastlaughin08
Today on three "top of the hour" newscasts on the radio I heard very brief mention of 8 or 9 US troops being killed this past weekend in Iraq and Afghanistan. Barely enough to catch unless you were listening carefully. I've seen nothing in print.

The "big" news is the TS down south, the airplane that crashed in Kentucky, or this clown Maliki over here claiming things are going so well in Iraq. Where the heck is the coverage of these soldiers that died in Bush's war? Don't these guys deserve more than a passing 5-second line?

I find it so disturbing that it isn't even cosidered news anymore.

2. There's not enough dead soldiers for a proper memorial, that's all
Bush wants a lot more dead veterans so he can build a nice new memorial to the war that brought democracy to Iraq.

It's got to be bigger and better than the Vietnam Wall. Bush wants to supersize the Iraq War Memorial.

3. Just saw it now in LBN
I had the same thoughts, I flip to MSNBC for five minutes on the weekend, and watch the local news-NOTHING. But the KY plane crash was the news of the weekend. Of course, the fifty that died in Iraq were only Iraqi's. And the rest, soldiers. They volunteered you know. As if anybody volunteers for hell based on lies.

4. Sad, but it's not really news...

the amazing thing is that it even got a mention. Most US deaths hardly even get that. The only reason it was mentioned is because of the unusually large amount of deaths for a single day. 52 American soldiers have been killed so far in August, up from 43 in July. Had you heard about all those? I'm guessing not.

6. Those number are totally unacceptable - where's the outrage?
We hear next to nothing, unless it's the kid from the next town that's being brought home in a box.

Terrible. Just terrible.

5. Does anyone know how this year's death toll compares to last year?
It seems like just as many but with way less news coverage. No one cares anymore.

Not to mention the permanently crippled. How can that man look at himself in the mirror?

10. My VFP chapter has been feuding with The Boston Globe
about the lack of coverage for a while now. We've decided to become the media.
