John wayne to the rescue....
I have noticed that since the bush admin has continued its pursuit of war on top of war, that the networks have made sure that weekly some get there dose of Duke to show them how to fight a war. I noticed that there is a weekly dose of war movies and this is some of the reason why the some who have grown up watching these movies believe that they are like their president, they think that they can go into any country they want and take over by bombing with little or no consequences to america.

I have heard some on cspan say go blow them all up, as though they aren't people. They have grown up believing that america can win every battle. The bush admin has pitted every group in this country against each other by race, sex ,age etc... I would like to know how the repubs expect anyone to follow them if there were a draft when they have made some feel as though this country is just for some and not all citizens.

There are some in this country who would rather work together with other countries than within their own. There whose allegiance is to the country of their birth instead of this country.

1. I've noticed that, too! Also, I got a stupid forward from a rwinger
who somehow hasn't realized I'm a bleeding heart liberal that was all about how "The Duke" would handle having to "select 1 for English".

3. Oh,,, My Email Friends Who Are Ga-Ga About The Idiot Are
emailing something every 2 hours! I have decided to simply ignore them! I've discussed this stuff with them, tried to be reasonable, even tried the "God wouldn't want you to lie" thing, but it just doesn't matter!

I've already STOPPED emailing with one of my former classmates from school because of this, but stupidity must be something that CAN'T be cured!!!!

4. I don't get so many any more, but recently got a GWB resume
that basically lays out his whole sordid life. Next time I get one from the other side that makes my head spin, I'm forwarding it to them.

7. Are they some of the good ole boys,,,
because they seem to be against everyone. I guess they will fight all of these wars by themselves.

12. If You're Talking To Me... My Emailers are Mostly WOMEN!!
The men who disagree with me aren't doing much of it anymore. I think I actually got the message to them. I went "off" on them once and told them I wasn't even going to dignify "male stupidity" with any intellectual comments from me. Also told them that because I DID try to keep well-informed on a daily basis that IF & WHEN they researched their information and provided me some back-up, it was ONLY THEN that I would reply!

I must have been in a really bad mood that day!

understood! He was "before" my time to some extent, but as I got older he was still alive and he turned me off! Kind of like that NRA guy that I know the name of quite well and can't think of it right now!!

It wasn't Burt Lancaster, the OTHER idiot, who thought he was God!! Ben Hur, oh my I can't believe that I disliked him so much and can't even think of his name. He just died last year! HELP!!!!

11. Duke Wayne had his chance to fight in WWII but he avoided it
told John Ford that he would enlist "once I finish these next couple of pictures." Ford was in his 50's but enlisted as did Henry Fonda, 36 and father of 3. James Stewart, Clark Gable who was over 40, Tyrone Power, William Holden and several others put their careers on hold, but not super patriot "Duke" Wayne.

15. He avoided the draft by claiming sole support for his mother.....
even though he was a millionaire and could have supporter her in luxury had he never made another dime.

Additionally, by most accounts his career was greatly enhanced by him doing movies during The War while the patriotic actors were serving in the military.

He's the typical Republican hero type. They think he's a hero because he.... PLAYED... tough military guys in the movies.

17. Also according to the book "John Wayne: American" he kept having
Republic studios keep telling his draft board that Wayne was more important for "morale-building" than actually serving in the military.

13. Case in point: "The Green Berets" starring John Wayne
Beyond any doubt whatsoever, that is the single worst movie of all time. Forget any Bennifer fiasco or desert epic. It's "The Green Berets" that takes the cake. Not a single veteran, least of all Viet Nam Veterans, could watch that movie without either laughing aloud or walking out in disgust. It was jaw-droppingly absurd and without any contact with reality whatsoever. It was shown in Nam (once) when I was there. To a man, we actually threw stuff at the screen. Abominable.

What's got me 'round the bend is that there are people today who can watch that and shrug. We've lost it in this country. Totally. The mass insanity that can pretend that such a depiction has any relationship to reality is beyond my powers of description.
