How many think we should attack Iran ?

I for one don't, but it seems that many here believe that we should.

If you do, what are your reasons?

1. Only Neo-Conservatives want war with Iran.
The greatest threat to our country right now is the Neo-Conservative movement.

The reason? It has no party boundries. There are Neo-Conservatives in both parties. example: Joe Lieberman

3. At the 11th hour, at the last possible moment
When the world knows Iran is about to go nuclear, that would be the only acceptable time.

Else, we learn to live with a nuclear Iran & make it clear that any unexplained nuclear detonation anywhere in the world will be blamed on them. And then the dying begins...........

15. I've gotten that feeling from some.... thus I did this survery...
Some who were very anxious to destroy Lebanon, seemed to also be anxious of going all the way to Iran.

23. Amazing. Amazingly insane.
Shall we invade North Korea while we're at it? We'd lose there, too.

7. Not Democrats. Neo-Conservatives.
Neo-Cons don't have a party. They take parties over from the inside. Look at the Republican party.

6. I Think We Should
Too many of our brave troops are sitting in relative safety & being denied their equal opportunity to be shot at by weapons their armor can't protect against. Besides, there may still be countries that don't hate us - how can we unify the World in hate of our nation if we don't invade yet another country who is no real threat to us or their neighbors?

10. If we attack Iran it will be the end of everything.
If we use a mix of nuclear and conventional weapons, as is being laid out now, we will cause thousands of instantaneous deaths and millions of slow deaths through nuclear radiation. We will not be able to engage on the ground without a draft. We will rift with Russia and China. China can pull the plug on our economy at any point.

The fact that we are moving into Iran means that the PNAC considers Iraq enough of a success to continue with their project. Think about that one. It's what keeps me up at night.

14. We should continue our assault on the rest of the world
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 01:16 PM by PinkyisBlue
by attacking Iran, then go on to France (who are they to diss us)? Then let's finish off Lebanon. After that, we should go after Venezuela; that'll show them for offering to help us with discounted oil (plus we want to control all that oil they have, er, I mean, we want to ensure they have a viable democracy). :sarcasm:

16. Let the Israelis bomb them/or find a way to start a new revolution
Let our combined intelligence find out where the nuclear weapons are being made and let their air force bomb the shit out of those locations. It's not really a war, but it would be more of a targeted bombing campaign.

The people of Iran are not happy with their leadership. There is a vast, well-educated middle class in Tehran and other large cities that would love to see the mullahs' political power gone, but are afraid of the repercussions of a full-scale revolution, mainly the killing and the maiming of innocents that accompanies any war.

But there has to be a way to keep them from building nuclear weapons without killing a bunch of innocents.

19. Mullah's won't make it that easy for us
They know our aversion to civilian casualties and will make damn sure every research station, assembly site, storage base is next to, or below, civilian populated areas. Hospitals, schools, daycares, baby formula processing plants, you know........

However, it is not to say someone hasn't suggested it. Do you of the survey the OP is referring?

Like you, I am also opposed to military action against Iran, by anyone.

20. A few points
1. There is a difference between thinking that Iran is a problem and thinking we are ok. There's some middle ground there.

2. There's also a difference between thinking Iran is a bad regime and thinking we should invade. It is frusterating to see the occasional defense of Iran that gets a bit to rose colored.

3. You should take a real poll, if you think there are a lot of people (numerically) who support invading Iran. Let them vote anonymously and lets see how many there are.

I was just curious, as there were so many anxious to bomb the shit out of Lebanon.

And then the absolute hatred for the PM of Iran is also a bit nerving.

25. The situations are different.
The situation with Iran, is not the same as it was with Lebanon. Also, Iran has no Prime Minister. You are thinking of their President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

22. I don't.. let's attack Pakistan they got nukes and Osama.
Should Musharraf get knocked off then their nukes become a serious threat. A 20 cents K-Mart bullet could take him out and then what. If the Americans can't secure a new friendly regeime in Pakistan watch out.

Attacking Iran is part and parcel for the PNAC plan. On 911 the neocons made a cold calculating move that had the desired effect, it united the country.... even me, as much as I hated that idiot king I supported the country's decision to get the perps..

as the months and yrs. passed what did I learn? LIHOP...then MIHOP
