Gallup: Just 22% view Rove favorably
Gallup: Just 22% view Rove favorably

Larry Womack / RAW STORY

Presidential adviser Karl Rove's net favorable rating among Americans is at -16, according to the latest Gallup poll.

The poll finds that just 22% of Americans hold a favorable opinion of Rove, while 38% see him unfavorably.

At 38%, Rove's unfavorable rating is seen at the low end of its range. The smallest percentage found in the last year to view the Republican political mastermind unfavorably has been 34%; the highest has been 50%. During the height of the Plame affair, Rove's net favorable rating was seen to hit -38%.

4. It doesn't matter what people's personal opinions of Rove are. . .
what matters is, will they dance when the piper plays the tune?

6. I wonder what percent of that 22% actually know who he is
Somewhere around that percent I would expect to support anyone in a high office without actually knowing anything about them.

9. That 22% benchmark
is a good indicator, considering he is a political hack job only, that not only does this number support the administration but still believes in its success and methods. Fear of November has shaken loose some GOP support undoubtedly for people who at least would be willing to live with Rove if he "produced" victory.

The main thing though is exactly how familiar the electorate is with Rove and who he is and what actually he has done. It is just as important to have a big ignorance factor for a string puller and hack. As a political deficit he has little significance unless final defeat happens and he still is entrenched.

So what we are seeing is not much an accurate, knowledgeable judgment on Rove but a gage of the situation. The stubborn and cheering 22- who might still be angry and grim nonetheless. This is the rallying core, the last line of defense and the first of counterattack. After November, should a sweep happen, that core support, containing its undercurrents of suppressed doubt and anger- will evaporate down past the teens into Cheney territory and beyond. If the GOP staves off the worst it would be bad for both parties because Rove and his crew will maintain a stranglehold.

11. It's nice to know that...
Rove and Cheney hovering around 20% approval are effectively running the country.

So much for "Democracy..."

That ticket would be a fair representation of today's Republic Party.

16. There's your base, only 22%.
Consider Cheney's 19%. A lot of these are coming in at that level.

So, it looks like Chimp's base is basically below 25%, no matter how they spin it.

17. All Dems should run against Rovian tactics and the vast RW conspiracy.
And those who don't know what the means would know by election time.

18. Reason why I don't trust polls...
"The latest results are based on telephone interviews with a randomly selected national sample of 1,007 adults, aged 18 and older, conducted July 28-30, 2006."

I am still afraid with only 1/100 of the population is 22%.

19. Boggle

I actually get the 22% who would eat canned shit if Bush fed it to them.

It's the 38%...or rather that 40% between that appear to not have a damn clue who Rove is. If ever there was a poll in need of no middle ground.
