I posted about this last week, and here we are, another week...and I don't know how the hell to know if I am actually listening to Stephanie Miller's show anywhere close to "live." WKOX has been running the show live until about 9:30 am, then rewinds the tape and starts it all over again. It is aggravating as hell. The "listen live" link on her site subjects you to five minutes of insanely annoying commercials and bumper music before you can listen. What bullshit...I just want to listen to the freakin' show!

Be grateful they have advertisers. That's how you measure how successful they are. Without advertisers, AAR and Stephanie Miller would be gone.

It's basically been my entire career, for about 25 years. I am not talking about the advertising, I know what advertising is, thank you very much.

I am talking about the link provided by DU...if you click it after 9:30 am you are NOT hearing the Stephanie Miller show that is being streamed from her site. It is about 30-45 minutes behind, being re-run for some reason. I will happily (?) let the ads play while I am listening, since I am tuning in to a radio show. Gosh...a radio show might have ads?! Who coulda thunk it! But why can't I just click and pick up the show live? For instance, after being subjected to the five minutes of horrible PSA's about breast feeding (played about three times) and some bumper music from the seventies, (hey Mr. Warpy the Ad-man, the station doesn't get paid for PSA's and bumper music) the show picks up in mid sentence - you know, like when you turn on an actual radio show - but after about 30 second of live show, they went to a freakin' commercial break which isn't actually streamed because of all sorts of legal issues...so I got to listen to the five minutes of breast feeding PSAs again!

9. A left-wing talk show host "comedian"

The show is lots of light banter surrounding the news. Lots of clips of Bush, of course, after which they rag on him. Think Howard Stern, except with politicians and politics instead of bimbos and fart jokes. Lots of goofy sound fx at the ready, and the infamous "You're a lying sack of crap" theme song generally played after any clip of a GOP poll spouting off. She has a sidekick who does great voice impersonations and he does the actual comedy "routines." Pretending he's Bush, or even Tom Cruise. It is rather formulaic, but it is fun. I'd heard people talk about her for ages before I finally listened. The first time I did, I split a gut it was so funny. But after you've listened for a while, you begin to realize you've heard it all before. The only things that change are the clips they rag on.

But it IS worth a listen. Good show, though perhaps not as deep and impassioned as Randi gets.

(And I won't tell you to "quit your bitching"; Monday mornings are bad enough). All this time, I thought it was me. I thought that I wasn't navigating correctly or something. It is messed up and the commercial-to-talk ratio is incredible.

5. Well, I'm listening right now from the DU link. Where should I go

to get the stream live? I started noticing a couple of weeks ago that it didn't go over to Al Franken at the noon hour. Is that what the problem is?

Point me in the right direction, please.

Whenever, I put on Stephanie Miller via Sirius Left...in the background as I'm doing shit around my home or shop....It just sounds like one long stream of goofy insane laughter from Miller and some guy, both of them going back and forth...I suppose they are putting down some neocon but the whole show as background...just seems to be laughter and more laughter, insults, mocking and then more laughter, are they really having that much fun every day...I would hope so...

I never seem to last long enough to see if there is any substance to the show...I mean who is the dude...he sounds like the usual kiss-ass to the queen kinda guy...anyway, so perhaps I should really listen...but as I stated, I last only so long and then I'm frantically searching the Internet for Randi, Malloy Hartmann or Collins, anyone, anyone else...I can still her her pontificating laughter, fuck, it's etched in my brain...(Hopefully, not forever)!
