It's not a funny moment, Babs, no matter how beautiful your mind is.

By the way, check out Gore's beard. How old is this picture?

3. Ah, it's from 2001, judging by Gore's beard.
I do think it's cute the way Poppy is holding his boy's hand.

Like he's proud of the lad for having finally finished "My Pet Goat" on the plane ride home.

Look at everyone else around them. They all have the appropriate somber expression. The Bushes seem pleased. Poppy even reaches out to W with a congratulatory handshake.

"Son, we did it."

18. This is from the memorial at the National Cathedral
which was a week or so after 9/11. I remember seeing this pic. Look at how somber the Gores and the Clintons are - Bill looks like he's been crying. (he's got so much empathy - he'd probably been crying all night, bless his heart!) When you contrast that with how the *Bush* family looks, it's like night and day. Blech. Those people are disgusting.

37. I remember that -- it gave me an awful, frightening feeling ....
There was something terribly symbolic about how they herded all the dignitaries into the cathedral, and surrounded them with military people carrying flags and standards ... and then they were all singing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic", many verses which I didn't even know existed, and it seemed to go on forever. The Carters, Clintons, and Gores looked so sad ... and almost helpless, because Bush had them all there while he was up at the pulpit, and they had to listen to him and obey him.

I couldn't even articulate what was bothering me, at the time. I kept telling myself that "this is a memorial service and these things are all normal", but the thought that something awful was going to happen kept nagging at me. Later I saw the televised memorial service from Parliament Hill in Ottawa. It took place in the open air, and tens of thousands of people attended. The atmosphere was so different -- not as formal or controlled, but just as powerful, and without the heavy hand of Bush.

19. Look at Laura's right hand
This family is just plain strange! Here's poppy reaching across Laura to clasp Junior's hand with a serene (!) smile on his face. Junior looks like a kid who knows he'd better not crack a grin. Laura, whose personal space is being so grossly invaded, is holding her right hand like she wants to karate chop someone.

Sick...Just...sick

So proud of Sonny, but there the proud father sits, the one whose deliberate mess created this whole fiasco, this preventable loss of life with the boob who did and does nothing to stop more and more slaughter. Honor among thieves. Pride among incompetents.

she'd be moved by this scene between two senior citizens, as though one was only a seven-year-old child, is beyond me anyway.

Yikes! That photo isn't of Barbara, it's her evil twin! Look at the glint in her eyes.

I love Bush Sr.'s flag in his lapel. He's coaching Jr. on how to look patriotic to later ram through the Patriot Act.

The Bush's look smug and relaxed, and Junior looks like he's bored.

The Bush's look at peace--as if they know something that the rest of the crowd doesn't.
