Can you smell that smell? Katrina after one year.
Words can't convey the stark reality of this wasteland. Eyes can see it, on TV and stuff, but it is the smell...

Toxic. Rotten. Wet. Dying.

Well, at least things are going well in Iraq....

From the dark side of the moon. I remain

Pissed off & Powerless

7. Suppressed. And it will be that way as the corporate media
carefully steps around us.

That doesn't mean, we're not here. It just means we won't be gathered up and shown in public as one voice any time soon.

We sure as hell are outraged and we're moving. And, it means the indy media is going to bloom.

Goodbye, corporate presstitutes, you've signed your own death warrant.

11. The smell is coming from Washington DC & PA Avenue....
Unfortunately it had to then let loose its stink on NOLA and the Gulf Coast in its incompetency and inaction and corruption...

Hey Swamp'r! Just got back from our trip! How are you? I've been thinking about you and sending good prana your way with the news about Ernesto...

You okay? :hi:

15. I know they downgraded Ernesto to a Tropical Storm, but I think that could
change again, so I wouldn't let down the caution and guard either...not to mention any other storms coming in the next few months.

I'm busy getting ready for the first day of school on Tuesday for my big Pachagirl....1st grade! Then I'm going to be consumed with dealing with our friends at USAA...sure enough, as expected, they completely are trying to weasel out of paying us for our damages to our house structure from the flood. I'm so disgusted I could scream. They are all crooks, all of the insurance companies. Meanwhile, the repairs on the house are happening, now I better get the insurance company to pay up so I can pay for it....

16. Wow!!! 1st grade!!!
But she was just a baby not long ago!!! :D

Oh yes, we are dealing with the insurance assholes everyday. They sent an adjustor again just last Friday.... insert a long string of 4 letter words here.

One year later and all we have been able to get out of them is a new, leaky roof. There are still holes in the ceilings, debris everywhere, etc. It is VERY depressing! :(

5. I wish that Mr.bushandhisevilminions could smell this when they are there.
I wish they would get their noses rubbed in it and not be able to go to sleep at night because they are hot, and humid, and can't get that smell out.

your mold and stuff gets away from you. I hug you from Alaska and wish it were different. :(

10. No.
I can't smell that smell left by Katrina.

I can't smell the rotting decay nor the atrocities in Iraq.

I can only imagine those horrors and hope for the future; as hard as that might be.

12. My grandson says
"it smells like hurricane." It's a definite and specific smell and you can still smell it strong over in St Bernard and some places on the north side of the lake. I hate that smell...

Hugs y'all! :grouphug:

So called white southern "eletes" disenfranchising the N.O. Blacks

Greg Palast is talking about it on Democracy Now

so called "white" N.O. is ok

Black N.O. is in chaos

sometimes my white skin offends me

Malik Rahim is talking to Amy Goodman about the plight of Blacks in N.O . If it wasn't for DU and programs like Democracy Now I would not have a shadow of an idea what is really going on in the world
