They keep saying we're safer because we haven't been bombed since 9-11?
The first bombing of New York's World Trade Center was on February 26, 1993 and again September 11 2001 - that's 8+ years between the two attacks.

Question: Why is it accepted as some sort of success that five years has almost passed since we have last been attacked and too many people are heralding this as some sort of praise to the way Bush is handling terrorism??

To me, until the US. passes at least eight years from being attacked on our homeland we've accomplished zilch!

Any enlightenment is greatly appreciated.

5. The RepubliKLAN party failed to defend America
Edited on Sun Aug-27-06 02:17 PM by liberaldemocrat7
The REPUBLIKLAN Party appears the only party that has actually DEMONSTRATED their weakness on national defense on the day that 4 terrorists crashed their planes into 2 towers, the pentagon and in a field in Pennsylvania on Sept 11, 2001.

2750 dead people attest to the weakness of the REPUBLIKLAN Party on NATIONAL DEFENSE!

So Karl Rove can infer, speculate, yell, shout as much he wants about the Democrats on national defense but only his party has DEMONSTRATED their weakness already and that appears a serious reason not to vote Republiklan this November.

Now tell what I said here to the Republiklans, and the press and swing and independent voters.

Also, the Republiklan Timothy McVeigh destroyed the Oklahoma Federal Building and the REPUBLIKLAN Party certainly did not make those who died very safe since one of their members did the killing in the 1990s after the first WTC truck bomb attempt.

2. This is all they have right now to spin.
They know that we all know the war in Iraq is a disaster, so they don't want to focus too much on that, except to do damage control. The only thing they have now is fear and terra, so they are going to pounding that into our skulls for the next couple of months.

The good thing is, it will prevent them from doing something like 9/11 intentionally, because it will blow their "you're safer with Repukes" stance. And this has been a concern among some, that leading up to the elections there might be some October surprise that will throw everybody back into terra mode.

So, in that respect, I think it's a good thing they're making this statement, as they wouldn't want anything to happen to prove they're wrong. It's all they've got.

4. really, the antrax killers are yet to be apprehended
Weaponized bioweapons from a US lab were being posted around the country and the country
has collectively forgotten that this rather serious breach has never been exposed.
How utterly criminal, as obviously the security establishment did it and is hiding
its acts... who the fuck else would have US WMD's .. pfffff

7. Because the "Age of Terror" didn't officially start till 911
History will record its birth as part of the second rising of the House of Bush in American politics. Clinton and Bush I were not even birth pangs-- more like morning sickness.

The Age of Terror means terror all the time, all the more terrifying by the incompetent boobs running the show on our behalf. Its a miracle if they get anything right.

9. Bottom line: On their watch
9-11 could have and should have been prevented.
They had credible information that was either ignored or discounted.
Compounding this was the complete incompetence of airport security at that time (I suspect at this time as well) and their inability to stop the alleged hijackers from boarding. All of us who have to travel on airliners are paying the price for this now with the current idiotic regulations.
ALL of this has happened since the current administration was appointed.
