Omigod....RW fury over Katrina
One would think the far right wing would be angry that their party has screwed up not only the immediate Katrina response but the rebuilding of New Orleans as well, with their usual corruption and incompetence.

But nooooooo, they're doing what they normally do - spew their venom in any direction, trying to muddy the issues and divert blame. A short blurb on the Huffington Post about Landrieu complaining about the rebuilding brought forth a disgusting series of right-wing hatred. I swear they must troll HuffPo just to spread their trash, since it's one of the few sites that don't ban them or delete their hateful screeds.

For a glimpse into the hell that is right wing extremism, here's the link:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2006/08/27/lousiana-sen-landrieu-_n_28096.html

The sickest comment - (I've deleted the n word, but it appears in the original):

"Let's hope another hurricane puts this Chocolate City shithole out of its misery. Then New York City can go tell that loudmouth ****** mayor to suck it. That's the thanks NY gets for sending emergency help to New Orleans after Katrina. If Nig Nagin was White, there would be a national outcry for his resignation. Since he's an ignorant bootlip, all you hear is that he's "outspoken." "

Be prepared for lots of this crap as the press focuses on the anniversary. They're like fish on a frying pan and it isn't pretty...

6. I think it should stay to show the hate and bigotry still aimed at...
the blacks and poor in this country. I hope I see the same fury created as when someone criticizes Israel and are labeled anti-semitic.

7. Let it be put out there.....
People need to see the racist cockroaches of the right so we can end the new conservative meme "Most racists are democrats and liberals who don't think much of black people and other minorities."

9. I don't need to see that filth to know it exists.
It teaches no one anything. It just gives a respectable forum to people who deserve none.

10. that puzzles me about HuffPo
They require registration now to post, and you'd think it might have been the first step to weeding out these abusive posters.

I felt filthy after wading through that thread. I still read HuffPo because I like the diversity of the bloggers and I like Huffington's writing style and point of view, but the comment threads there are like a huge sewer. If they don't clean it up they're going to lose a lot of readers.

3. We all know that the GOP is the racist party.
I'm sorry, but that is the sad truth of the matter. That was what the "Southern Strategy was all about, they embraced the haters and it endures to this day. That is what "Welfare Reform" is all about, it is just another code word for the politics of hate. That is why they love people like Blackwell and Keyes, men willing to sell out their own in order to get ahead.

5. Typical GOP talking points
They're fed those talking points daily by the dozens of right wing bloviators on hate TV and hate radio. The airwaves are full of them. Oh, and they HATE Huffington Post with a passion.

Try spending some time on a mixed forum and you'll see this garbage every day.

15. You can flag the offending post
which I did...

I don't think it is necessary to read posts that degrade and inflame and do nothing to actually inform...

Yes it can be left there for all to see, bigotry at it's worst, but do we really need to see any more bigotry than we already have... I know there are racists idiots out there, I don't need to hear their opinion to know what it already is.....

16. The RW is very good at criticizing people who have been devastated
until they themselves are devastated. If Trent Lott had not lost what he lost in Katrina, I've no doubt he would be among those making the snide comments about those that lost everything in Katrina. I find it interesting to watch Haley Barber walk a very careful line between being ugly about the whole thing and offending those affected by Katrina. For the sake of his own political hide, Barber has stayed pretty much mute although it goes against his grain to want to help anyone affected by Katrina, including Lott.

I've seen it numerous times--some mepuglican complaining about those welfare moms, those freeloaders-but when they need assistance or if they screw the system-well, it's okay-see they deserve it, those people do not!
