Who should be a host on a progressive TV news channel?
The Real News," a progressive TV news channel planned for 2007, wants to hire anchors.

If you know someone who would make a good TV news anchor, ask him or her to apply:

From http://www.iwtnews.com/node/3032

We are conducting a global search for three on-camera news anchors for a pilot of our future news program, taping in November 2006.

We’re looking for exciting individuals who won’t take spin for an answer and who combine wit with substance.

Successful candidates have:

· Solid journalism experience (or equivalent)
· Proven interviewing abilities
· On-screen presentation skills
· A passion for seeking facts and pursuing truth

The Real News will be the flagship show of IWT, a non-profit world news service available on TV and the Internet. Our objective is uncompromising journalism, with no corporate or government funding and no commercial advertising.

The hosts of The Real News will be the face of this international network and reflect its values. They will represent, in age and background, the diversity of the real world.

To Apply

We require the following application materials:

- A cover letter telling us about yourself and why you think you would be a good host for The Real News.

- An up-to-date CV that includes your name, address, phone # and email.

- A short (1-2 minute) video demo of yourself that shows how well you write and present. This can be a personal editorial or news story (the kind of story you think should be on The Real News). Get creative!

- A demo of your other on-camera work

DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2006 (But we’re already looking at DVDs)

Send all materials via mail to:

The Real News
P.O. Box 53, Station B
Toronto, Ont.
M5T 2T2

Any questions, contact us at host@therealnews.com

No offense to Canada; I'm glad they're trying something here. But shouldn't this really be an American endeavour?

37. That would certainly get the channel noticed.
There were rumors shortly after Bill Clinton left office that he was going to become a TV host, but he hasn't done it yet.

He did a weekly debate-thing with Bob Dole on "60 Minutes" for several weeks. That was his biggest TV gig.
