When they gained control of all three branches of government, it was like giving small kids the key to a candy store. They overindulged in catering to greed, and fear, and now people are turning away from them. People are now realizing that maybe privatization isn't the cure to everything, and that outsourcing is hurting us, and that putting religion ahead of science is going to drain more jobs, as intelligent people leave the country to work in more liberal societies.
People are exhausted by having to work more hours, and get less money in return. They see their benefits eroding, while CEOs get heaped with wealth, regardless of how their companies perform. They see that hate, and suspicion quickly drain the vitality from people, and they are tired of carrying the heavy role of trying to remember who to hate this week.
Most of all, though, I think that people are tired of the secrecy, the bellicose attitude, and the unyielding stubbornness of the Republican party. It has become standard for diplomacy to be a last resort, rather than the first. I think we're tired of being hated world wide, because a select group of people without a shred of human compassion has hijacked this country, and we know that things are spinning out of control. I love your posts, Opi...when is the next celebration on the beach, with a full moon and lots of good food and music? I could use that right now!
