how is this possible - U.S. urges Afghan border plugged...
'BAGRAM, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Foreign and local troops must plug the Afghan-Pakistan border to halt Taliban infiltration, America's commander for the Middle East said on Saturday, but added that Islamabad was not helping the rebels.

Fighting in Afghanistan is at its bloodiest since a U.S.-led coalition drove the hardline Islamist Taliban from power in 2001 and the United States, Afghanistan and other governments say many of the guerrillas use Pakistan as a safe haven.'
