Sob story . crying for the world .
I want this over. I want to hang with people who know that there is a nightmare going on.
I want to be separated from the people who go to nice lunches and ice capade birthday parties.

Yes, when the day comes in America where libraries close, I lose all hope. I am so tired of the battle. We have seen this. We have seen that a whole race of people can be blown from the planet. Time and again. We have seen that the planet itself can be threatened. But I believe in her. She will survive. She will adapt and morph as she has many times over.

Why, can anyone tell me why, the human race wants to annihilate itself? And is there anyway to stop it.

1. ~*Peace*~
It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds - Samuel Adams

You're on the right track!

3. I have been searching for awhile... as many of us have
and spent a couple hours talking to my son. I have not been a Christian, I left that fold for a good six years ago. However. The Christ mentality, which I studied for years, has recently been nagging at me. I have believed for a long time that the only sin is to put oneself above and better than another. No other so called sin can happen until this initial step is taken.

So, the result of the call is what is called in some circles as rebirth. Because I have stopped fighting against this. Those who have been looking at the Secret, yes. It is a paradox. The more we struggle against, the more there will be, I guess. But I have finally surrendered. It is really hard to explain. I still believe the Christ as allegory, but with a lesson. He, as the story is told, put himself below everyone, as a servant. We are used to the ones who call themselves by his name but do not even go close to what he lived. He did not try to be a mighty master. He served. He did object to abuse of others, but he didn't carry on with it. It was over and done with. I'm going on Bible stories now, but they were what I grew up on and studied for decades. I can't call on Greek myths, though I'm sure some relate.

I think this might be what we need. There is much mouth on the opposition. Now fundie Christians still believe in an end time cataclysmic event or events. I studied for years and never found that to be the story that was being told in literal terms. This feels good to finally put my Pagan beliefs together with the Christian upbring. And stop them from warring with each other.

Question: do we need to take a more humble stance? It is a risk. But what do we have to lose at this point? Is there any active power than can come against the evil we see? Or might it take a ju-jitsu kind of thing where we stop fighting? Stop the struggle. The struggle has gotten us exactly nowhere. I know this new attitude is going to make a powerful change in my personal life. Because I just don't have to fight anymore. I wonder what would happen if all of us that have been so angry for five years just suddenly yielded. The teaching of ju-jitsu tells us that the opponent would use his own power to overcome himself. Let the change begin with me.

4. First, have you seen Bill Moyers/Joseph Campbell "The Power of Myth?"
It's a six-part series and I found it VERY eye-opening; shows the universality of certain key themes and issues and human experiences. (Been meaning to get the DVDs on ebay.) It might help you put your Christian upbringing into a broader perspective. So much is all connected!

Second, by a "more humble stance" do you mean complete pacifism on EVERY level -- not even conscientious objection or political fights or standing up to these dangerous zealots?

There I'd say no -- the fight is worth it. Sounds like you are fatigued right now -- that's why it's good to have others with you to pick up while you take a breather, until you're ready to come back.

5. Thanks . I have that series
and have watched most of it. Sometimes it seems way over my head, but yes I believe that Campbell was able to integrate and grasp the meaning of all of it. He was amazing.

And yes, I am very fatigued.

And yes, my idea was a total non resistance. Not saying that is the right approach, but perhaps it is for me. I have been so passionate for so long. There are people who have strong beliefs that there is going to be violence and that people and beings have to be killed in order to satisfy some God that they are creating this reality. I have done a lot of diligent study and have come to different conclusions, but I can't fight their reality creation. In other words, perhaps my passion is better spent on focusing on a peace reality. I am very tired. If we spend all our energy in fighting them then are we giving up our power to them anyway? Would our cause not be better served to take our energy and spend it on creating a new world? Do we dare face that challenge.

I appreciate your dialog.

8. the job may seem overwhelming
but we must begin to "create a new world" as you say.

It is easier now to reject the policies of those "leaders" whose agenda is blind and selfish. More Americans are seeing the system for what it is...corrupt and basically non-functional at this point.

When things stop making sense to this degree, there is no alternative but to go for the total make-over.

Times like this are made for pioneers.
