A heartfelt and sincere thank you to DU veterans.
I wanted to sincerely thank all DU veterans. Once a month my dad takes me to the VA hospital to help volunteer... and... that was today. I just wanted to say that I really respect and appreciate you guys now more than ever. *Hugs* to you all and here's hoping to no more war.

7. Its been upsetting me for a while
The homelessness, the consistent efforts by this admin. to screw the troops over...

The right wing "support the troops" is such empty, trite, meaningless hypocrisy.
Want to support the troops, look what your govt is doing to them :-/-the screwing of disabled and paralyzed vet funding is a disgrace....

Putting some bumper sticker on your SUV is not support :eyes:

9. I saw a guy with burns all over his body.
And people want to play hero. This guy -shame on me for not remembering how to spell his name- is a hero. What a world were living in huh?Btw to make it perfectly clear I didn't have the honor of serving. But my dad and uncle did.
Let's support the troops damnit. Let's really support them.

16. Truly. And lying about why we have to go to war - a war that is/was
Edited on Sun Aug-27-06 12:48 AM by calimary
COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY!!! We could support our troops by stopping THAT, and not sending them needlessly to their deaths. Their lives are precious and not EVER to be wasted. And then to cut VA benefits while those troops are out there risking their lives for nothing.

:grr:

Once I got mad at some big-ass steroidal widebody pickup truck parked in the neighborhood with those nauseating "Freedom isn't free," "Support our troops" and, unbelievably enough, "War IS the Answer" bumper stickers. AND that darling, all-important yellow ribbon. I left a note on the windshield that said "Is your yellow ribbon buying them MORE BODY ARMOR??????????"

12. Which VA hospital do you go to?
I have a friend who works at the Hines VA and is active in a group called Veterans for Unification that is working to save and reform the broken and badly funded VA system.

My :loveya: is a Vietnam vet and I respect and appreciate him every day. He deserves it!
