18. Cetainly a beautiful piece of scripture.
Not a bad learning aid, I say.

"Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints...." Ephesians 6:10-18

21. I find it disturbingly "crusadish" to be honest
Give me the "Blessed be the peacemakers" riff. I've had enough of the language of war.

And those outfits are horrible. First of all, they cost forty bucks. Who pays forty bucks for kids' pjs? Second, the whole 'armor' routine suggests that the children have to engage in warfare against anyone (not just that 'devil') who doesn't believe what they believe. Next thing ya know, little Timmy is running neighbor Muhamed through with the gardening shears...

Swords, shields, breastplates, helmets? I don't think it's a healthy image.

31. You find it disturbing to gird one's self in truth and
righteousness? You don't think kids should work for peace? Read the scripture, don't just go knee-jerk hating against the poor simpleton buying this garb for his kids.

32. I did read it. It talks about instruments of war. It is disturbing, not
uplifting, in my mind.

Children have to deal with war soon enough in their everyday lives. I don't see how putting on faux "armor" at bedtime and prancing about with helmets, swords and shields will make them better Christians. It might, though, make them a bit rabid about those who are NOT Christian--as though they're expected to fight the infidels.

I'm not 'knee-jerking.' I examined the text and find it a curious message that mixes war with faith. We don't need any more damned Crusades.

YMMV, you are free to disagree, and I'm guessing you do.

It's much easier to wear the helmet of salvation than deal with another child. :)

edited because I found answer to diff between boys and girls sets. And you wouldn't want to put your girl into a boy set (omg, incest) or boy into girl set (omg, turn him gay) so make sure you order the right set.

39. What bugs me about this most...
is that they seem to "miss" a bit of Ephesians 6:10-18. They focus on the martial rather than what it is they are "girding" themselves against...I added emphasis below to show what I mean:

(10) Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. (11) Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. (12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (13) Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (14) Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, (15) and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. (16) In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (17) Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (18) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

It's a call against false prophets and the "anti-Christ" fer cryin' out loud. Do they not see? Are they blind? And I'm no Christian by any stretch of the imagination.

43. How is it, that "they" don't see "their prophets" as part of the
authority against whom they are "fighting"?

Sorry, I think I just tried to apply logic to belief. What *was* I thinking?

I won't even get started about fighting for Peace. Ick.
