Suicide Soldier's Dying Words to His Mother: 'I can't go to Iraq. I can't kill those children'

While his peers from St Augustine's Catholic school were this month contemplating university careers or first jobs, Jason Chelsea was preoccupied with a different future: his first tour of duty in Iraq.

The 19-year-old infantryman, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, was tormented by concern about what awaited him when the King's Lancaster Regiment reached Iraq, where 115 British soldiers have been killed since 2003.

He had even told his parents that he had been warned by his commanders that he could be ordered to fire on child suicide bombers.

It was a fear that he never confronted. Within 48 hours of confessing his concerns to his family, Pte Chelsea was dead after taking an overdose of painkillers and slashing his wrists.

On his death bed, he told his mother, Kerry: "I can't go out there and shoot at young children. I just can't go to Iraq. I don't care what side they are on. I can't do it."

May God help us all...God forgive us all.

I wouldn't.

4. When is this gonna end?
'There have been no known cases of suicide attacks in Iraq committed by young children'.........

So what is this? Trying to get these guys so paranoid that they will shoot at children because they MIGHT or COULD be suicide bombers????

Sick bastards!!!!!!!!!!!

15. I couldn't even imagine
i sympathize with him totally. I wish he had found another way out...went awol or something. But who can blame him? Being on patrol on a busy street in an illegal war...a pretty young girl walks up, not much younger than you. Under normal circumstances, you would think she is cute enough to ask out on a date, maybe go see a movie with. Instead of starting a beautiful young relationship, your superior orders you to open fire and murder her because somewhere in his sick twisted brain he finds it in himself to believe that she might be a suicide bomber. Killing is never the answer. That poor, misguided young girl has her life robbed from her from a boy, not much older than she is, that she thought was cute and wanted to approach.

George Bush, Fuck You.

I don't know why but this story hit me like a ton of bricks. I am reminded if a photo gallery of Iraqi people that I was viewing on the day the invasion started. Happy, smiling people enjoying life and mugging for the camera. One picture was of a young boy who looked around five pushing his widely smiling face into the frame. He reminded me of my nephew at that age. I left my office and went out into the woods and cried. This is so wrong. When we can murder children and call it the advance of freedom what have we become?

13. Haven't seen this on CNN
or the front page of the NYTs yet.

Guess they are too busy rehashing some 10 year old case. Maybe we'll hear about this in 2016..er..

What the hell has happened to us?
