I think Christopher Hitchens seriously needs to start drinking again
After his clean and sober performance on Real Time with Bill Maher last night, in which he denigrated the audience with several middle fingers and utterances of "Fuck you," Hitchens made a very negative lasting impression on America.

He was more entertaining when he was a bit tipsy.

8. Exactly...
Perhaps he needs a little more than alcohol. A long weekend in Amsterdam would make it difficult for him to be so hostile to anyone. :smoke:

11. I assume he was "fortified" for the show
He couldn't sit up straight and his eyes were red. What struck me was how he insisted on the Iraq-Al Qaeda connection by placing Zaqawi in "the Kurdish north" and saying that that was proof that Saddam allowed him passage into Iraq when most people understand that Saddam had no control over that part of Iraq after the Gulf War. I wish someone had set him straight on that but then again no one wants to argue with a drunk.

13. I can't believe they let him slide on that point!!!
Speaking of that, isn't it true that some in the CIA referred to Saddam as "the mayor of Baghdad" due to his lack of control in the North AND the South?

18. I've never heard that before but it sounds right
Whether he controlled the South is another question but he definitely was not in control of the Kurdish north and folks like Hitchens need to be called on that. The Iraq-Al Qaeda link is one of their key and yet most desperate arguments.

actually I was ready for the audience
to rush up and pummel him... the weaselly
little jerk sure deserved some retribution.

Why are rightwingers such dipshits?
Is that some kind of prerequisite?

14. I think having him on exposed the reality of the right wing
in America. They are angry, disrespectful, and untruthful.

I thought he was drunk or he was doing his William Buckley impression.

16. I think you're right!
The man is a Super Freeper fool and every time one comes unglued on TV it hurts everyone connected to the neocons. It helps pull the wool off of the sheeple's eyes.

Yeah, people like him and Coulter do a disservice to the conservative cause. They need to be held up as examples of stoolies of the authoritarian right.

He's a member of the elite Brit 1% dontchaknow. That is a polite euphemism for ignorant backward self-centered pricks who are unable to get the idea that the Throne doesn't rule the world any more.

Did anyone else notice he was wearing an Iraqi flag lapel pin? What a imperialist waste of skin he is. :puke:

20. Video of his repulsive performance here
Edited on Sat Aug-26-06 01:39 PM by Julius Civitatus
Is it true he's in rehab? I can't tell, because he's still acting like a violence-prone drunk asshole.

Here's a small snippet of his performance last night on Bill Maher's show. Evey time Hitchens opened his mouth he seemed ready to start punching Maher or one of his guests. He cursed at the audience, insulted Maher, gave the finger to the audience several times, insulted Elvis Costello, and then told Maher that he would "explode" if he mentioned he was part of the 1% British elite. What a shameful excuse for a human being.
