Why do I have to hesitate to post about peace?
What is it about peace and caring that scares people?

You know, there was a time when peace was the answer.

And love filled the stars.

and it wasn't just a bunch of bullshit.

Why not?

Why not peace?

Why not now?

1. You don't have to.
It's just your nature.

2. Maybe we should talk about freepers
or the latest thing that pissed us off while watching the news.

Maybe I'm just sick of that shit?

Maybe, probably.

Yes. I am.

Who won the latest Survivor? I am most likely the only person in the US who has not ever and I mean ever, watched a "reality" show.

What do you want to talk about?

14. There's a bunch of us who have never and will never watch
that "Marching Morons" fare, including me.
Posting for peace is a wonderful thing and this is just the place for it.

Thirty years ago I was gripped by the powerful notion that peace in our time was not only possible, but, with the enormous commitment and the activism that I was personally operating out of, it was inevitable.

As my days on this planet become shorter and shorter, I realize I would be pleased at the prospect that it might come about within the next hundred.

3. You're right.
The only scary part is: The arm-chair war-mongers, hate-mongers, and fear-mongers (too often from the ugly site which can't be named) will be too happy to label that with 'stinking hippines' and you do know we don't want to make an impression of ever even just seeming to "look bad" in spite of a majority of (non-hippy) US being for peace and prosperity in all due respect of our natural environment.

Go figure.

Remember La Nouvelle Orléans.

5. the disconnect here is that the people want peace . . .
it's the "leaders" who prefer war . . .

so we need new leaders . . . not just here, but in every nation . . .

10. Maybe it's just harder with a "hole in the ground"
but the threat remains, so it's a little hard these days to reflect back on "flower power." I know Iraq wasn't a threat to the US, but I can understand the outrage at seeing public ceremonies rewarding the families of suicide bombers - it doesn't take much to disrupt a crowded place like NYC.

So I appreciate the sentiment, but politically, I'm afraid it's a non-starter in my 'hood.

13. You don't.
You don't have to participate in conversations about the shallow, or conversations that inadvertently feed the very energy driving this administration, and this country to hell.

You can post about anything you want, and if peace is your topic, some of us will show up to discuss it, because some of us think peace is more powerful than war, cooperation/collaboration more powerful than competition, love/empathy/compassion stronger than hate/fear.

We'll be there.
