Is it time for a march focused solely on impeachment?
I was thinking about that today, browsing the Camp Democracy website. I've been to quite a few of the anti-war marches, and there are all of the attendant side issues - Palestine, Katrina and impeachment included.
But is it perhaps time for a march/demonstration focused SOLELY on impeachment? I think half a million or more people on the Capitol Mall or marching down Pennsylvania Avenue focused only on the impeachment of Bush and Cheney would be powerful symbolism. What do you think?

1. I don't want to wait until March.
How about a September focusing entirely on Impeachment. :)

2. I don't believe so. After the Dems gain control would be the perfect
timing.

3. I think we are very close to that moment....but I think it going to
take one more catastrophic event to push people over the edge (don't get me wrong one would think after disaster upon disaster) by these guys the country would be ready but not yet....

Whether it's a bullshit story to attack Iran....which will require a draft or attack North Korea.....it's something big....whatever the Repugs have planned for October.....I think that will push American to literally stand this country still until he is gone....

8. How about a march focused solely...
on overturning rigged elections, Ukraine style, while we're at it...?

19. Strategically, this is much better
Impeachment is not our best strategy, for at least two huge reasons.

1. Instead of empowering We The People, calling for impeachment still leaves us groveling at the feet of Congress to do the right thing, even when they've shown repeatedly they cannot be trusted or expected to do so.

2. Impeachment would require Bush, and likely Cheney and others, to stand trial before the Senate. That means they would be subjecting themselves to the rule of law. Is there precedent for this? Hardly. They will never allow themselves to be put on trial for their lives, which is what an impeachment trial would amount to given they have violated the War Crimes Act which carries the death penalty.

If we want major sweeping change the People are going to have rise up and reclaim the power that is rightfully ours. Rallying around elections is the most fundamentally obvious place to begin. But calling for election reform is insufficient.

Peaceful revolution is necessary, NOW!

14. I'm serious. For now we have to shut the Hell up about Impeachment.

Then we show up at the Capitol and lean on the Democratic Congress for justice.

This would get the media's attention. They'd LOVE the viewing numbers that would come with a protracted investigation and inevitable Impeachment.

10. I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I think that most major cities could be brought to a halt.

It works in France and Italy - are they somehow smarter than us?

Let's do it!

11. "are they somehow smarter than us?"
They're certainly less timid. They don't seem to mind standing up for their rights and shutting down the country to do it. We're trapped in the Matrix here.

16. i think a 50 state capitol march
focused on jeffersons rule 605, urging local legislatures to consider articles of impeachment would be the best.
we have a bill in illinois, but it is a corpse rotting in the rules committee. a huge demons ration in springfield might at least get some air time for it. it must come from the people.
if impeachment is hanging over his head, it will embolden world leaders. they may even stand up to his plans to invade iran. perhaps it will encourage them to think about bringing these maniacs into the haugue.

20. We can't even get an organized anti-war protest together.
We could learn alot from our Mexican friends.

When we have an anti-war protest, it would be nice if people could STICK TO THE MESSAGE. Enough of bringing every pet issue into a protest.

A march for impeachment would be great, but the general media and public would be confused the second they started seeing the familiar sights of "Free Mumia", "Free Palestine", "Legalize Weed", "Communist Workers Party".

Lack of focus is what has made almost every anti-war protest innefective.
