1. Thank you! K and R!
See how it works? Now another faith besides Christianity is wondering how you dare speak for them.

2. All they need to do is put up a symbol for Jews and for Muslims, and if
any other faith wants their symbol there, then that too. Perhaps atheists should have a symbol of their own to put there. Problem solved.

Like this.

An "A" in a circle like the Acura logo or a multicolored triangle...

or just a triangle

4. The government has no business promoting religion
makes no difference if they promote all of them or not.

5. I agree.
In future memorials, perhaps it would be better to forgo religious symbols, but here, with a long-standing memorial, adding symbols honoring veterans of other faiths seems like the sensible solution.

Also, it might be possible to add symbols of the services themselves for those who are not religious. Army, navy, marines, air force, coast guard and even merchant marines who served gallantly in the Atlantic campaign of the two WWs would be appropriate.

On Memorial Day, many communities place flags on the graves of all veterans. There are flag holders with symbols particular to some wars that have been fought. Perhaps those symbols could also be added.

7. Except the cross is huge and I would presume they would all want to
be similar sizes/prominence. It's not a very big space. It would be a battle. I'm very happy these people are filing the suit. This cross needs to go to a privately owned piece of land. Lot's of rich Christians in San Diego, shouldn't be a problem for one of them to carve out a little space on their property.

9. And Wiccan.
Witches should demand their symbol for sure.

6. That thing's been there since 1954...
and they're just suing over it now?

I have to agree that a three-story tall cross is an insult to non-Christian soldiers, but I'm curious about the advisibility of tearing it down after all these years.

10. I wouldn't have a problem if they sold it to someone who wanted
to preserve it, just as long as its not public property.
