Youtube/Google Music forum
Anyone interested in seeing a forum where we can link music vids? Because we need a little break from the politics, right?

1. If you want a break from the politics....then go to another website.
This website is about news and politics for dems....not a place where we can share music videos.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQtk3yBdaEA This is why I love Youtube....a simple song about a universal idea by someone without any pretext of being a 'star'.

16. O&ITW, you can probably share links in the Lounge
There's usually a few good music links in there each year--er, I mean, every day.

Seriously, when I want to share a music suggestion, that's where I go. :smoke:

21. I'm sure that's the case, but....
why not have a forum dedicated just to good/interesting music? As you know, the lounge buries posts quickly...better to have a forum dedicated to interesting music.

6. Uh....there's tons of non-political forums/groups on here...
Or have you not noticed that? In fact quite a lot of them. In fact the entire lounge is devoted to taking a break from discussing politics. Everything from religion to astrology to specific bands or musical artists.

It's a place where people who happen to be like minded politically can also take a break and talk about other things they enjoy in their lives with people who they know aren't going to freep out on them or where they know trolls and whatnot are unlikely.

There are a lot of forums at DU that don't deal with politics.

With responses like that, no wonder the OP wants to discuss something else.

10. DU
...not a place where we can share music videos.

That was mean. I also don't think it's the case. DU appears to me to be a forum where Democrats and lefties of all types can come together to share thoughts on various issues, subjects, etc.

15. Queenie....here's a great Youtube video that you ought to watch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxJNP3vSgrA

Part 4. Willie The Lion Smith honours Eddie Condon for having been the first musician to organize a recording session where both black and white musicians work together. He then starts to play and it comes together as a tune called I'm Confessin'.

This was recorded at Eddie Congdon's nightclub in 1963. It'a a very fascinating look at the state of progressive music in an ear that wasn't particularly progressive. You probably don't know Eddie Congdon, but he, along with guys like Jack Teagarden and Benny Goodman, were pretty goddam radical in their music and politics in the era of segregation. These guys, known as "teaheads" would refuse to accept accommodations that would not allow them to stay with their black bandmembers.

You really shouldn't making sweeping stupid statements....that's what we look to FreeRepublic, Lucianne, and Red States to provide.

Bonus-

Strutin' with Some Barbeque (that's 'Wild Bill" Davison on trumpet and Willie 'The Lion' Smith on piano...there's 5 total video segments if interested....serch 'boberwig' on youtube for some really great classical music.

31. Rather than responding to that little fart of nastiness, I will sing:
Old and in the way, that's what I heard them say
They used to heed the words he said, but that was yesterday
Gold will turn to gray and youth will fade away
They'll never care about you, call you old and in the way

Once I hear tell, he was happy
He had his share of friends and good times
Now, those friends have all passed on
He don't have a place called home
Looking back to a better day, feeling old and in the way

When just a boy, he left his home
Thought he'd have the world on a string
Now the years have come and gone
Through the streets he walks alone
Like the old dog gone astray, he's just old and in the way

...AND LEAVE IT ON! :hippie:

it would be cool to have an ARTS forum, with divisions for political visual art, music, CHANTS? and poetry that can inspire. We post things from time to time, but that could be a resource for folks who need some inspiration or for planning an event.
