Dianne Feinstein WARNS against Alito filibuster
WASHINGTON (AP) - A Democrat who plans to vote against Samuel Alito sided on Sunday with a Republican colleague on the Senate Judiciary Committee in cautioning against a filibuster of the Supreme Court nominee.

"I do not see a likelihood of a filibuster," said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. "This might be a man I disagree with, but it doesn't mean he shouldn't be on the court."

She said she will not vote to confirm the appeals court judge, based on his conservative record. But she acknowledged that nothing emerged during last week's hearings to justify any organized action by Democrats to stall the nomination....

"I was impressed with his ability to maintain a very even demeanor," she said on CBS'"Face the Nation. I think there is an additional weight you must give to his background, his qualifications and his ability," she said.

"The whole issue (of gays rights) has been too much, too fast, too soon." - Feinstein

13. I called her earlier this week.
Unfortunately, she doesn't seem care what her constituents think.

12. There's an old Russian saying
Fear not the man who cries for social justice
Fear not the rich man
Fear the rich man who cries for social justice.

17. I don't know. There's a lot of conviction around here
even when it seems the center will not hold. :)

6. Feinstein and husband are megabrazilionaires
and IIRC, much of their wealth is tied up in defense contractors. If the Dems would position a real progressive candidate to run against this war profiteer, well, they'd probably lose, but it might be a start to put some pressure on the beeyotch.

7. I got an automated response from her in my inbox.
It basically said that she didn't bother to read my letter because I was out of state and her volume of email was too high. I think the subject headed was a tip off. Please vote no to alito.

8. How anyone can say this and still call themselves
an American.. nevermind a Democrat is beyond me. This guy is no blank slate.. and he hasn't disavowed a single one of his radical, monarchical views of the power of the presidency.

He'd undo the Magna Carta! Nevermind our beautiful, balanced, barely breathing Constitution.

15. What a sad politician! She sees no reason why a fascist corporatist
out to destroy worker's rights shouldn't be on the court. She is NOT A DEMOCRAT!
