Wow... The Irony... Coors Beer exec (Pete Coors) pleads guilty to DWI
<snip>

GOLDEN, Colo. - Beer executive Pete Coors pleaded guilty Friday to driving while impaired, a lesser charge than the DUI count filed against him after his May arrest, and was sentenced to 24 hours of community service.

The judge suspended a $200 fine, but ordered Coors to participate on a panel sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving and to go through alcohol education courses. Coors' driver's license also was suspended for three months from the date of his arrest.

District attorney's spokeswoman Pam Russell did not immediately return a call.

The Denver Post reported that Coors entered the plea against the advice of his attorney because he thought the arrest had been an embarrassment to him and his company.

Ran for Senate as a rePuke in 2004 too.

There's gotta be a joke here about Karma, but I'm too slow today.

2. Doesn't Seem Like He Took Responsibility At All !!!
Charge gets reduced.

$200 fine gets suspended.

And the three month suspension of his drivers license from the incident (May 28th) means he gets it back on Monday.

I wouldn't get that deal in a million years. Course I don't run a multi-million dollar corporation either.

What is this "Justice" thing you Americans speak of?

:wtf:

7. "three month suspension of his drivers license from the incident"
And was he driving all this time while awaiting sentencing? If so, then "yes"--He got a pretty good deal...

6. Ooooh...
I see. So is this what DWI is in every state? It's been awhile since driver's ed, but I very clearly remember this point.

And really, doesn't impaired still sound worse than under the influence? You could be driving under the influence of Saturn, but that doesn't mean you're impaired.

But really what does it matter. He's Pete Coors. He could have been driving a beer truck with a tube runner directly from the trailer to his mouth and it wouldn't have been any different.

5. I don't know much, but I somehow have a little respect for that guy
Of what I heard about the Colorado Senate race, he played it very clean -unlike most Republicans out there. And now he's taking responsibility for his irresponsibility. I just thinkt he guy tries a lot harder than your average ol' repuke, that's all. He seems to have a little more class.

8. It NEVER fails to amaze me...
How often do we hear these stories? Guys with a gazillions of dollars don't take a cab after they've been drinking. For someone like me, calling a taxi after I've had a few is a major expense. $25 or so is a lot out of my pocket after an evening of imbibing in a few $3 "happy-hour" pitchers of beer, but I've done it to avoid a DUI when there was no other way home. One would think the amount for a cab is mere pennies to drinkers like Coors. Yet they still insist on driving themselves home.

I just don't understand it...
