RawStory: Democrats plot 'no confidence' vote against Rumsfeld
"The Democrats may be preparing a strategy to punish President Bush for allowing Donald Rumsfeld to continue to serve as Secretary of Defense, according to an item at the Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire blog.

To shift the Iraq discussion from troop withdrawals to questions of accountability, Washington Wire reports, Democrats may attempt to attach a "vote of no confidence" to defense spending legislation in Congress. Democrats hope that Republican moderates seeking to distance themselves from the Bush war effort would support the measure, making it difficult for the White House to easily defeat the legislation.

Washington Wire added that Rumsfeld has indicated privately that he has no intention to resign."

If this really happens - one down, 23 more vertebrae to go for the Democrats!

2. It's important that he be held accountable. I just want to see Kerry
get some acknowledgment for being out in front on this for years now. I am thinking that Senator Clinton may be wanting to lead on this one.

3. If it pushes R's away from support for the war, good.
but I'm not convinced they can succeed on getting the attachment to the bill.

4. Rumsfeld is the weakest part of the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld troika.
He's responsible for losing the war, but let's not forget Cheney is responsible for lying us into it.

I would dearly love to see Cheney impeached after the Dems retake Congress. I think it's much more likely than impeaching Bush, for the obvious reason that the Vice President just isn't the President. And Congress has a say in who would replace Cheney, it doesn't go by the order of succession.

7. Yes...

... I have come across mention of such plans, ie... to pluck away Bush's supporters, starting with democratic control of congress, and then go after his handlers. This will put so much news out on the GOP corruption and what a buffoon GW is, that NO ONE will be able to ignore it or not read or hear of it. All part of the "GOP will be out of the majority for the next 50 years".
