Iraq-Bound UK Soldier Suicides, "Couldn't Kill Children"

A 19-year-old soldier from the UK has killed himself right before his Iraq deployment, claiming he couldn't bear the thought of killing children, the Independent wrote.

On his deathbed Jason Chelsea told his mother that he couldn't "go out there and shoot at young children," the report says. "I just can't go to Iraq," he said. "I don't care what side they are on. I can't do it."

Frightened by his upcoming tour of duty in the Middle East, Chelsea took some pills and cut his wrists.

His parents claim that he had become a different person during his pre-deployment training and that he was suddenly lonely and kept everything bottled up inside. They are now questioning the training methods of the infantry, believing this pushed their son over the edge.
