Ronstadt Cancels Tour After Surgery: She's on our side -- best, Linda!
Remember when she was booted in Vegas for some kind words about Michael Moore?

Las Vegas Sun: Aladdin expels Ronstadt after political remarks

Aladdin President Bill Timmins ordered security guards to escort pop diva Linda Ronstadt off the property following a concert Saturday night during which she expressed support for controversial documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.

Timmins, who was among the almost 5,000 fans in the audience at the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts, had Ronstadt escorted to her tour bus and her belongings from her hotel room sent to her. Timmins also sent word to Ronstadt that she was no longer welcome at the property for future performances, according Aladdin spokeswoman Tyri Squyres....

NYT/AP: Ronstadt Cancels Tour After Surgery
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: August 24, 2006

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Singer Linda Ronstadt has canceled tour dates for the rest of the year to recover from surgery she had this week, her agent said Thursday.

Ronstadt's agent, Shelly Schultz, would not provide details on the surgery the longtime performer underwent Tuesday in Tucson, Ariz., but said it wasn't cancer.

''It wasn't an emergency, but it came about rather quickly, so she decided to do it sooner rather than later,'' Schultz said. ''It's surgery, it's completed, and she's fine.''

Ronstadt, 60, was scheduled for various performances from September through October, Schultz said.

Ronstadt will recuperate at her home in Tucson for an ''undetermined'' amount of time, Schultz said. Then she'll travel back to her other home in San Francisco to spend time with her adopted children Carlos, 9, and Mary, 13, said Schultz....

2. I hope she's well
I love that woman. She's probably THE most versatile singer in the world. The new CD with Ann Savoy is really cool.

7. I have always said that if I could choose a singing voice for myself
I would want to sound like Linda Ronstadt. Such a beautiful, versatile voice and she makes it sound so effortless. Sending good thoughts her way.

3. Linda is a fixture around Marin County
In Mill Valley there is a club called the Sweetwater, and during the Christmas season a band called the "Christmas Jug Band" appears annually. It is not unusual for Linda to stand in for a set, as well as make appearances in other parts of town. She's great, very approachable, very kind.

5. She had Stone Pony days?
In Jersey? I never heard that. Wonder how? She always seemed more west coast. I am sending her healthy vibes. We need more artists speaking out. I'll never give money to the Aladdin for how they treated her for just a statement. Sick.

10. I've liked her ever since she and Kermit had a thing
When I was a kid she won me over with a performance on the Muppet Show where she and Kermit had a brief moment of romance before Miss Piggy interrupted. :D

I wish her a speedy and full recovery.
