Rockey and his display of faith
Notice in this photo of Rockey with Bush** that he has a cross on display around his neck:

Here are two photos of Rockey from the "FEMA trailer" thread. Where's his cross?

Could be he was so excited to meet Bush** that he forgot to tuck it under his collar.

Or maybe his joyous photo op with Bush** was a meeting of two cynical opportunists who use things like faith and tragedy for personal/political gain.

1. I wonder what the rules are for moving a trailer provided by FEMA
I would think that the rules would forbid taking one of their trailers on a little trip. They are intended to be temporary homes until the user can rebuild of find other more permanent housing.
They are not for pleasure trips by the temporary occupants.

This guy is as criminal as the rest of them.

2. That's not his FEMA trailer-it's a different one bought just for this trip
Which makes you wonder why a guy with that kind of $$$
got a FEMA trailer in the first place.
He's _NOT_ poor and disadvantaged; he's a pretty wealthy guy.

3. More than that
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 05:43 AM by peaches2003
Rocky is a Repug operative and also not the underprivileged NOLA resident they are trying to portray him to be. The whole thing was arranged in advance and was a setup photo-op.

Where the hell is the MSM on this one? They are the biggest enablers of all.

6. You know it had to be a setup
You don't just drive into Washington and see the President. It doesn't work that way.

7. True!
Just ask Cindy Sheehan....:(

I so hope this backfires on Rockey & Shrub. There are still people suffering a whole year later, who still have no idea how, or resources to get back home.

12. Look closely at the picture
It's not a FEMA trailer; guys like Rockey Vaccarella don't live in no trailer. It's "Rockey's Honorary FEMA Trailer." This is a GOP publicity stunt from beginning to end, including the ersatz documentary film crew padding around after Mr. Vaccarella. Why the networks and cable outlets are still so completely fooled by these stunts is a question that will be considered and answered in years to come. And the media won't come out looking good.

9. Rockey's trailer looks like the sales office in a cheap used car lot
and he looks like a sleazy fast-talking salesman.

"Hey, Chimpguy, this little beauty was owned by my grandmother and never saw raindrops - really.

13. Not sure if you've seen the FEMA trailer thread
...which is here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1979238

...but what's shown in the photos above isn't a FEMA trailer. Somehow this Katrina victim managed to buy a trailer and pay for the gas to drive to DC to have dinner with Bush**. Naturally it turns out he isn't as destitute as implied (by glossing over the fact that it wasn't his FEMA trailer he drove to DC) -- and he has political, need I say GOP, aspirations.

He is from NOLA though, and his family did lose their house in Katrina.

The noteworthy thing to take from it is that despite Rockey's affluence he's still living in a FEMA trailer back in NOLA because no one's decided yet if rebuilding is wise or how it should be done. And if the Rockey's of NOLA are still limping, imagine how the dislocated poor are doing.

11. Who the hell wears their cross OUTSIDE their shirt like that?
No one. Except a phony trying to draw attention to his shiny cross. This entire thing is as fake as a Diebold vote.

14. Amen to that
I'd love to know whether it was Bush**'s people who suggested the cross display or if he thought of it himself. Either way, it's the usual propaganda one expects from the neo-pubs.

15. A gift?
Or maybe Bush draped it around his neck as a 'gift of faith' before the photo shoot? Now that seems likely to me.

16. Bush giving anyone a gift is the most UNLIKELY scenerio yet!
Have you EVER seen Bush do this, unless it was a Medal of Freedom to his lying cabinet members? Most presidents do have ceremonies where they bestow honors on people. Not Bush, unless it is a ceremony to honor himself.

A applaud your effort to appear "fair," but this blatant manipulation by BushCo doesn't deserve "fairness." In fact, your response is illustrative of why democrats are viewed as such pussies...Bush shits on us for six years, has never done anything even remotely compassionate, and yet there are still some willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, even with such a blatantly contrive photo-op as this one.

17. You misunderstood!
I wasn't trying to appear 'fair' at all! And I am anything but a pussy Democrat. I despise the man and couldn't be more vocal about my hatred, here or in person. I am furious with the Dems in Congress and the press for being doormats for this bastard. I was being totally sarcastic. This is just the kind of phony religious manipulation that Rove would have Bush do.

Believe me I would NEVER give the son-of-a-bitch the benefit of the doubt no matter what he did.

Sometimes being sarcastic on message boards is a bad idea. You can't see the fire shooting out of my eyes when I see or hear this monster. And I do think he is truly evil.
