"Macacagate", a great op-ed and republican wiggling
Edited on Thu Aug-24-06 08:09 PM by the_outsider
Subodh Chandra nailed George Allen in a fantastic op-ed on The American Prospect. Subodh recently ran for Democratic nomination for the Ohio attorney general.

Let's not forget about "Macacagate" and let's help the Webb campaign. It has already done a lot of damage to Allen's poll numbers and presidential aspirations.

Now while Allen is apologizing, his campaign management team, with the help of spin machine, is undermining Allen's apology and attacking the "partisan drive-by" media to keep the base happy. In an interview with Allen, Sean Hannity referred to the incident as Allen "joking" with "a Webb campaign worker". They should not be able to get away with this, particularly with Allen's history.

1. George Allen is a racist KKK-loving bastard. Prolly a NAZI, too.
The "Macaca" story is the tip of the sorry racist GOP-Klan-Mafia-NAZI axis iceberg. Thanks for giving a damn, the_outsider.

From Kos:

This George Allen 'macaca' story is not even half over. The more I look into Allen's connections to white supremacists in America, the more I am convinced that Allen is not merely a guy who throws out white power words to put some blood in the water at an all-white campaign rally. He is the clean-cut favorite son of a branch of the American white supremacist movement that cloaks itself under the banner of 'Confederate heritage.'

In this diary, I present an Aug 17 posting by Wayne Madsen that talks about the Sons of Confederat Veterans.

George Allen--incumbent Senator from Virginia, 2008 Presidental hopeful, rising start in the Republican Party--has so many connections to this world of white supremacists that anyone with a moral conscience should be absolutely outraged by this man.

Jeffrey Feldman's diary

From this point forward, whenever Allen says he is a 'Jeffersonian'--we should all be perfectly clear that he is not talking about Thomas Jefferson. He means 'Jefferson Davis.'

Camp 305

Here are some quotes from Wayne Madsen's Aug 17 piece with my commentary cut into them:

WMR has uncovered evidence that the Bush administration is riddled with individuals who not only advocate for the Confederacy but are also linked with leaders of the racist Aryan Nation Brotherhood. With the recent focus on Virginia Senator George Allen's racist comment about a South Asian-American working for Democratic candidate Jim Webb's campaign (Allen called the campaign worker a "macaca" (a monkey) -- a French-language racist term for people with dark skin, an examination of the corporate filings of Jefferson Davis Camp #305 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV), which, according to Confederate Memorial Association director John Edward Hurley, has been a longtime hub for extreme right-wing Republican activities.
