Calling us the DEMOCRAT Party IS a Proven Conspiracy says Houston Chron.
The conspiracy, officially confirmed by the Republican Party of Texas, is depressing. The GOP's strategy of trying to deprive Democrats of their chosen party name and its associations reflects and contributes to the incivility, malice and misrepresentation that mark this era's partisan politics.

At least in this case the voters will no longer be confused about the incorrect usage. The practice isn't due to ignorance or indifference to correct usage. It's simply bad manners.

Read it all -- it's worth it.

3. Hrm... nice comeback line there.

It doesn't take too much time out of a TV debate to stop and say "you know that's bad manners, right?" Would only MSM news guests do so.

4. I would stop, say "Excuse me?" Wait. Then ask, incredulously:
Do you not KNOW the NAME of my party? You clearly have no business commenting on politics / answering the question/ blah blah whatever...

Then I'd throw a chair at their HEAD.

Edited on Thu Aug-24-06 06:07 PM by mcscajun
It's more suitable to their imperial intentions.
From the Latin, publicanus, in ancient Rome, publicanus meant public contractors, suppliers of military equipment, tax/duty collectors. Other more modern definitions from the UK include landord, and owner of a pub or bar.

Let them choke on that one.

their name, the same way they deny ours, and with far less Humor.

And if they think it's vulgar, so much the better to show up their inbred ignorance.

16. Absolutely. "republic Party."
And if one of them tries to give you grief about it - just say "I'll say it correctly WHEN YOU DO."

Taste of their own medicine. See how they like it. If they can do it to us because they know it ticks us off, well then, let the games begin. They're not the only ones who can (or SHOULD) play that game.

I'll play fair WHEN THEY DO. And not until OR unless. I'll stop WHEN THEY DO. And not a moment sooner.

...negative response to the sound of Democrat, with the emphasis on the last three letters, than on Democratic, which made them feel good according to Thom Hartmann. If you ever visit rw site, you will see it written democRAT.

I now rarely say Democrat. Rather than say I am a Democrat, I say I am a member of the Democratic Party. "Democratic candidate Soandso", not "Soandso, the Democrat". The Democratic candidate. The Democratic policy on whatsis control. We should simply not say Democrat. Use the extra words needed to work in Democratic every time. Always call pukes on using "Democrat Party". And then kick them in the crotch and shove an enlistment form into their gaping yap.

22. I ALWAYS call them the "Republican" party in public. Here is why:
If I am talking about the Republicans, I have important points to make. I want to make damn sure everyone in earshot knows exactly which political party I am discussing. And I will use my best vocabulary, my best grammar, my best diction, and my best syntax because I don't want to demean myself and my party - the Democratic Party - by stooping to their sophomoric level. Their use of the term "Democrat Party" is only one trick removed from the whoopee cushion.

28. "Democratic" is a positive adjective.
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 05:10 AM by nicknameless
Not surprising that rethugs don't want to use a positive adjective to refer to their opponents' party.
Democrat is a word mostly associated with party affiliation.

"Republic" is a positive noun. So referring to them as the "republic party" wouldn't be insulting in the same way.

OMC's "republican'ts" is very good.

:)

34. And they are the Republicult Party...
That's right I said it.

They are Republicultists.

They allow only one message, and anyone who disagrees with that message is sent for reeducation or expelled. They demand absolute loyalty and obedience to their leader in all things without question. Power and wealth is held only by that leader and his chosen inner circle. Anyone not in their cult is seen as evil, an enemy to be eliminated at all costs.

I'm sure there are more parallels, just can't think of them at the moment.
