Does that make abstinence "abortion the day before?"

3. These idiots
have no idea how conception works. I actually tried to explain it to a fundie neighbor I had but he would have none of it. Since then I've given up trying to talk to fundies and just deride them every chance I get.

4. I watched that segment.
The man was spewing so much ignorant misinformation that my head was spinning. Also, when non-embryionic stem cells were brought up, he said that these were unacceptable for use because "they are what makes twins" or some such claptrap.

These jerks spew misinformation on purpose and unless it's countered, people believe it. Infuriating.

8. Maybe he's a botched abortion
You know how the fundies love to describe in lurid detail how docs "suck the brains" out of embryoes during an abortion? Maybe that's what happened to Watts.

EC is not an abortifacient!

Effing ignoramuses should learn biology before they spew.

9. He is simply medically and scientifically wrong.
No matter where you stand on abortion the day after pill is birth control nothing more.

I used to joke That there are only two sides to the abortion debate.

Those that think conception begins when you buy the girl dinner.

and those that think the kid is fair game as long a the tube hasn't been cut yet.

I guess Watts is firmly in the first camp.

13. Another example of Republican family values.

From Wikipedia ---

"Watts captured national attention in 1996 with a speech before the Republican national convention, when he said, "You see character does count. For too long we have gotten by in a society that says the only thing right is to get by and the only thing wrong is to get caught. Character is doing what's right when nobody is looking."

Later, in 1996, Watts admitted to fathering two children out of wedlock twenty years before. Watts also issued a denial that he had defaulted on a large bank loan."

Evidently, he couldn't keep the black snake in his pants.

Add quotation marks.

Abortion is code for elimination of target. Man am I in trouble now.

17. Yes, there are people who consider abstinence to be selfish/wrong.
Failure to do your duty for the human race.

(Though some swap the word "human" there for narrower alternatives.)

The fact is, greater access to Plan B will prevent unwanted pregancies and abortions- by preventing ovulation and ferilization- the primary methods by which the hormone acts.

But you can't tell that to people who want to impose their irrational belief systems onto everybody else in the nation.

Actually- a sizable percentage of thes kind of people aren't just anti-choice, they're anti-birth control- and when Roe v. Wade and necessarily, Griswold v. Connecticut are overturned- they'll be trying to ban other forms of contraceptives, too.

Maybe CNN will report on that. LOL. Fat chance.

21. The sooner we all realize that banning the birth control pill is part of
the "pro-life" agenda, the better.

These chuckleheads don't make any distinction between abortion and the pill.

23. It's all a matter of what they consider a pregnancy.
Redefining pregnancy as having a fertilized ovum in the body is part of the strategy. I bet the next part is considering yourself as possibly pregnant even if you haven't reached the time of missing that next period.

Next thing you know, they'll try to convinve girls that they, too, can be the next Virgin Mary and could be pregnant at any time.

I'm wondering when the chastity belts will make a comeback.

24. Every unfertilized egg is an ABORTION!!!
EVERY SPERM IS SACRED!

If an egg is allowed to leave a woman's body without every effort made to meet it with a host of sacred sperm THAT'S AN ABORTION.

If a fertile man-child of god has sacred sperm that is emitted without being enclosed in the body of a woman and with unrestricted access to a womb.......
THAT'S AN ABORTION!!!

If the man-childs sperm is allowed to whither in his loins without being accepted, welcomed and cherished by young sweet fertile reception
WELL THAT'S AN ABORTION ALSO!!

And there you have the agenda of the Christian right. They want the right to have their seed planted in a fertile spot. A v e r y f e r t l e spot, if you get my drift. Regardless of the fertile spots opinions on the matter. After all if one woman can refuse a man's child-bearing seed they all can can't they?

26. we all know, the pill works ony before the sperm gets to the egg
we know dont we.....

i didnt know this but found out the pill gets rid of the egg before the sperm can get to it. the sperm has not arrived, in no way can it be seen as an abortion....

unless it is as all points out that it is the same with getting rid of pill, or having sex without the intent of creating. saying it is an abortion pill is a flat out lie
