Katherine Harris Thinks God Has Chosen Her To Become The Next President
Looks like Katherine Harris thinks God Has Chosen her to become the next President of The United States. I guess after W it might make sense to her...

Katherine Harris:

The Bible says we are to be salt and light. And salt and light means not just in the church and not just as a teacher or as a pastor or a banker or a lawyer, but in government and we have to have elected officials in government and we have to have the faithful in government and over time, that lie we have been told, the separation of church and state, people have internalized, thinking that they needed to avoid politics and that is so wrong because God is the one who chooses our rulers.

.............

If you are not electing Christians, tried and true, under public scrutiny and pressure, if you’re not electing Christians then in essence you are going to legislate sin. They can legislate sin.

.....................

That what happens in Florida sets the trend for what happens nationally. And with this election, if Bill Nelson wins, it’s going to be a very frightening proposition in 2008 in the presidential elections because whoever wins Florida will win the presidency.

4. Ah, poor Kathy ... she aparently never heard the first rule of holes:
When you're in one, stop digging.

That said, though, I don't read this as her saying God has chosen her to be president. She's saying that whoever wins Florida in a presidential race will win the White House in 2008. And, separately, she's saying God guides voters' will. I think the former prospect has some merit -- the latter, of course, is bullshit that even Harris doesn't really believe.

So she can be available to run for President? I thought God was just sick of her, generally.

15. Today's word is 'defective'
Why they don't just come out and say 'batshit crazy' - I don't know.

>> Collins, who became a Republican about 20 years ago, said he got into the Senate race an hour and a half before the qualifying deadline because he was afraid Harris "was going to get this nomination by default."

"I felt she was a defective candidate," Collins said, noting that party leaders, including Gov. Jeb Bush, urged Harris not to run and sought alternative candidates. "I felt she would not be good for the party." <<

anyone could reach any conclusion other than God's expressed preference that Katherine Harris be Florida's next U.S. Senator, and then on to the White House.

It's as plain as it can be.

"If you are not electing Christians, tried and true, under public scrutiny and pressure, if you’re not electing Christians then in essence you are going to legislate sin. They can legislate sin."

If we don't do something about these nutjobs, this country isn't going to make it.

28. "God is the one who chooses our rulers"
GAK. The only invisible being doing the choosing is DIEBOLD, you twitchy silicone witch.

And America isn't supposed to be RULED. Or did you miss that part of American history -- you know, the beginning bit with the Revolutionary War and all -- along with one of the main reasons people came here in the first place, namely to escape religious persecution...in particular, kings who liked to harass and oppress those who didn't share his faith?

Ring any bells, Katherine? Or are the ones in your head too loud?

The bells, the bells!!

30. Warning, warning! Danger, danger!!
Katherine Harris is part of the Christian Reconstructionist movement that also claims as a member the esteemed J. Kenneth Blackwell. Members of this movement want to change the rule of the land to strict biblical law, which puts them in the unenviable company of their gruesome absolutist counterparts, the so-called Islamofascists. Mark Crispin Miller has written about the Reconstructionsts extensively -- see, for example, "Fooled Again." One of the frightening things about these whackos is that they believe that deceit and foul play are within the bounds of permissible behavior if the end goal is the promotion of Christian government. This explains the electoral shenanigans that happened in Florida and Ohio, where Harris and Blackwell were, respectively, both Secretary of State and Supervisor of Elections. Oh -- and Bush/Cheney Chairpersons.

And this is why it is imperative that Harris and Blackwell go down in FLAMES this fall.

32. Kathy (And the Rest of the GOPukes) Should Read The Bible More...
...if they had, they'd know that while God does choose our leaders they aren't always righteous ones.

Sometimes nations are given bad leaders so that the people would learn faith.

Sometimes nations are given bad leaders specifically to facilitate said nation's destruction (usually because of lack of faith/righteousness).

Sometimes nations are given bad leaders specifically to facilitate the LEADER's downfall and the installation of a righteous one.

Funny thing is ALL THREE has happened to the U.S. at some point or another, except for the "nation's destruction" part. But then, it's still "early" yet... :scared:

:tinfoilhat:

34. Rulers?
Hmmm... I guess the Constitution isn't part of the so called Christian RW's vision. Isn't Jesus going to come back and be the King of Kings? A lot of people used to laugh at these wacky Fundie folk but now that they have gained political power not many are laughing at them.

35. It Doesn't Really Have To Be That Literal, But Yes...
According to the Constitution (and despite what that idiot Bush thinks) this is a nation of the people, governed (or "ruled" if we must use that term) by the people. This happens through a three-pronged government: legislative, judicial and executive. I think we can all agree that our current "rulers"---White House, Congress and Supreme Court---have lost their ever lovin' mind of late...
