1. DeVos is Bush/Engler lite.
DeVos has a plan to put the state $2 billion in the red again. His only goal as governor is to secure elimination of SBT for Repugs, who have the majority in the MI Legislature, and to give away more tax money to his rich friends. Worked well for Engler. He gave away tens of millions to manufacturers hoping that would convince them to stay in the state. It didn't, but he now has a cushy job as president of a manufacturers group.

3. He Won't Just Be Giving That Money To His Friends.
He will directly benefit as well. As far as I am concerned he's a crook.

4. There's nothing "lite" about DeVos except his intelligence.
He's a total nightmare - worse than Engler or Junior. There is absolutely nothing DeVos would stop at to further enrich himeself and his cronies and gain more power. He wouldn't know the truth if it gave him a lap dance. He's a heir-head who wallows in the wealth of a criminal enterprise created by his father.

5. DeVos already bought devosforpresident.com
so we better stop him now. What elected offices has this asshole held?

DeVos = Bush with more money and less experience.

2. Good...
The last thing we need is a Reich wing idealogue from Michigan's "bible belt" taking over the state.

That's reason enough to oppose him.

22. Amen to that...
I'm a former Amway survivor, and the corruption in that organization is appalling. Of course the DeVos and Van Andel families claim that it's Dexter Yager and his organization that has completely corrupted the business with lies and half-truths. To an extent, they're right. Dexter is a disgusting crook that would whore out his children, his wife, and even his mother's rotting corpse if he thought it would bring in an extra dollar. But the fact remains that the Devos and Van Andel families allow this corruption to continue because they would certainly lose a large percentage of their Amway profits if they were to shut Yager down.

9. Here is some great
DeVos campaign gear, trust me take a look,

"A total Dick for Governor"

http://www.cafepress.com/dick4gov

As President Clinton said at a rally in MI last week, MI doesn't need a state version of the Bush/Cheney team. Governor Granholm will win.

15. Christian Dominionist and scam artist
He would be very dangerous in any office. Engler could be pragmatic, when he had to be.

It's tough though, because Michigan is suffering, economically.

16. Dems need to focus on why MI in suffering
We need to link our suffering to Republican economic policies again and again and again. And all Granholm's ads need to focus on DeVos' family money; Alticor and the scam that is their pyramid scheme. I recently read an expose that accused the "Diamond" sellers of making their money off their seminars, tapes and books, rather than practicing the actual business techniques they encourage their members to follow. The writer of the expose claimed that the average top seller of Amway products loses $900 a month. If true, then DeVos is adding to the squeeze on middle America with his cynical business, rather than helping the average voters.

23. Very true
I know for a fact that in the Amway corporation, the people that make Direct level and above make their money off of books, tapes / CD's and functions. 10 years ago when I was in ScAmway, you were encouraged to go to every regional meetingg and every major function (4 a year). When you went, you were required to fill out a form that listed your direct, your Pearl (now Ruby, IIRC), Emerald and Diamond. Those people all got kickbacks every time their name was listed.

A Google search using the terms "Brig Hart" and Amway will bring up the details of Hart's (who was a Double Diamond at the time) lawsuit against the Dexter Yager organization and Amway for cutting him out of the monies made by the sale of tools (books, tapes, etc). He estimates that Yager, as the kingpin of the organization, makes $40 million a year from tool sales alone.

24. DeVos is no 'lite'.
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 11:38 AM by cyclezealot
He is a real freeper. A Grover Norquist clone. And ambitious to the hilt. Besides a religious nut. Or pretends to be. From Grand Rapids, he probably is. Take him seriously. He must be stopped. he has already taken out DeVos for president web sites , so that they are ready when he is ready.
He is ambitious. He plans to run for president. God help us. He will be worse than BUsh.
Granholm is classy. I will be in Mich in OCt and plan to help Jennifer. Great news.
Maybe some Democratic heavy hitters need hit the trail for Jennifer, like Bill Clinton just did. She is a classy lady.

26. They'd better not rob her
I have a feeling, however, that election fraud will be rampant in Michigan this November. The neo cons owe the DeVos family, wife Betsy is buddies with Rove, and if he's already bought up his candidacy for Prez domains, they have big plans. They will do anything not to lose - anything.

Jennifer Granholm is a bright, amazing woman doing her best for Michigan. If they cheat with the new optical scan voting equipment throughout the state - which I am certain they will - I hope she stands up and challenges them on it.

27. Great, Devos is a very scary man.
Look, I know everyone is going to give me heat over this---but Granholm
has been an absentee landlord as far as the state of Michigan goes.
It's nice that everyone thinks she's hot but she has tried the "Clinton triangulation"
bit to the point that you start to imagine how nice it would be to have a real solid Democrat in office, for a change..
Granholm is right wing panderer when she didn't need to be.

Sorry, not the right place to vent but I'm a Michigander who is sick to death over this economy .
But I will say that the DeVos prospect is very scary.

31. The MIch economy is a national malaise
The rust belt is red all right. Red from advanced decay. When Holland, Mich. is closing down with it's Dutch work ethic; there is no hope from Buffalo to the Oil patch.

28. Michigan will need a lot of attention
I don't think people around the country appreciate what a complex place Michigan is--and what a tough job she has.

Not only does this guy Devos has deep pockets as we know, but Mitt Romney is building a huge political organization there. He is really looking to turn Michigan red. With a diverse population and a troubled economy Michigan is totally ripe for race/religion/ethnicity baiting.

We need to stick up for all Michigan democrats.

32. Devos will out spend Granholm 4 to 1...
He has been a daily site on our local networks for over six months now ... Granholm with a much smaller budget had to wait to start running her ads. Devos has been trying to portray himself as connected with the average joe. Like sitting around with a bunch of unemployed Michiganders with him listening to "their" concerns.... or the ad that interviews people supposedly off the street.... saying things like "Granholm seems to be a nice lady but..." or "She hasn't done much since she became Governor" .

Granholm's ads have started and so far have been smart pieces showcasing how much she has done in four years, cutting 4 billion out of the budget, fighting big oil price gouging... and so far hasn't even mentioned Devos's name.

It seems to be working... as before she started running her ads Devos had pulled almost even in the polls.

Hopefully the trend continues ...

From a West Michigan Granholm Fan..

Jokinomx
