I spent the afternoon at the holocaust museum in D.C.
during my "vacation". I was shocked at how similar Goebbels is with the Bush administration in nationalization and Christianity propaganda. They are both experts in demonizing ethnics, the Jews and the Muslims. Their big push is to implant fear and then build on it. W traced the fear tactics used by the Nazis and is now implementing them against the Muslims.

A fact I learned at the museum, Jews had their heads shorn prior to gassing, so the hair could be sold retail for bedding and mattresses.

1. Was it enlightening or frightening?
I am curious--when you see the similarities in black and white?

7. I don't know about being enlighted or frightened
Man's inhumanity to man says it all. I find it gruesome that human life could be so devalued that hair would be shorn for retail sale before they were put to death for their ethnicity.

2. Unbridled hatred
americans think themselves immune from it so they will not see the manipulations.

expressing bigotry and hatred is all the rage these days. america is revelling in it.

13. Sorry -
One of the lessons of the Holocaust is the humans are capable of horrible things. The entree to doing those things is hatred - that is fed and nurtured by the likes of Hitler and others such as RW surrogates.

don't know how it is where you live but I hear more bigotry espressed by people, I see more rudeness, and I see more people expressing their sense of superiority and entitlement because they are white christians.

The RW has done an excellent job of mixing america's myths with hatred and fear. America's myth of superiority prevents people from examining their actions and consequences and their hatred and fear causes them to allow bad things to happen, if not cause them to happen.
It seems to be acceptable now.

I guess what I mean is that the soul sickness that pervaded Germany under Hitler is happening here in america and is being nurtured. it is even called ratings!

9. I've been to the Holocaust museum in Jerusalem.
I've read a lot about WWII.

The skin of people made lampshades. The Nazi era was horrific.

That doesn't mean I agree with what Israel did against citizens of
Lebanon.
My 2 cents.

10. Agreed
Two wrongs never make a right. How very sad we live in a world who so devalues ethnic lives. we did it with slavery, and it continues on. All based on a sense of racial superiority.

11. Jews in the Warsaw ghetto were made to collect the valuables
of other Jews about to be "relocated". They were also made to retrieve dental work that contained precious metals.

If you threaten people enough, they will do just about anything. Even the best of them.

And that is what troubles me most about our current cabal. They have deployed fear and they will use it without any sense of shame whatsoever.

14. I learned that some Jews in government would aid the Nazis
in delivering the infants, children, and elderly to death camps in the hopes that the strong child bearing age adults would survive. How scared they must have been. Yet, I hope I would have fought against that. Who knows.

I wonder, with the GOP being so scared and weak, if they would not also give up the young and the old to save their own lives.

Look how they treated the bodies of the 9/11 dead. Look how they encouraged everyone to go back when the air was toxic.

Look how they kill in Iraq and hide the numbers and disrespect our veterans.

Look how they've hidden our Katrina dead.

It is happening, just in a different way.

We need to know what they are capable of so we can fight the muthers.

has little concern, if any, for these people. Condi was shopping shoes in NYC, etc., while New Orleans was going down. They didn't and don't care.

Remember, Bush was eating cake with McCain while our people were thirsting in Biloxi.

They are murderers. And we need to know that unblinkingly.

22. That's that. We just need to know. Because their whole regime
Edited on Thu Aug-24-06 01:15 AM by sfexpat2000
depends upon us losing track of what we know -- in a way. Forget they stole Florida. Forget Ohio. Forget they were warned before 9/11. Forget we knew Saddam was mostly harmless. Forget the Downing Street Memo, you know, forget it. Gore Vidal is right -- in order to continue on our present course, we need to be the United States of Amnesia.

It's worked for them so far but I'm not sure how long it can continue to work. And by "they", I don't mean any shadowy, creepy enemy. I mean very specificly the corporate interests that masquerade as Junior's family. In a way, America has always been like this. It's business, it's not personal.

But, the cabal seems to be overflowing in sociopaths. Imho, we need to recognize this isn't just a Republican government that isn't in line with our values. These people are dangerous and that's just a good thing to know, like knowing there's a rabid dog in the kitchen. :(

23. Rabid dog? I feel the slop on my arm, sfexpat2000.
I don't know that it's working specifically. Now it's all personalities and war all the time until November.
I can't wait to see what the Dems roll out as far as a defense. Sociopaths in the repug party, what do the Dems have to offer?
I remember hearing about a big effort in August for the Dems, but have heard nothing and haven't been sent anything since. Another ploy? And if so, disapointing. :eyes:

25. Coincidentally, I'm watching "Wellstone!"
He was a burr in the @ss of the party, wasn't he? But he revitalized so many of us.

If we were smart, we'd be focusing on every Sec of State election in the country because that's where they steal it. But that's not sexy, no one knows that the Sec of State controls our elections.

Any big structure like the party is going to try to perpetuate itself. That's just systems theory. But, what encourages me is that the grassroots that worked hard for Kerry and were outraged after Ohio are still around. We haven't gone away, we're not going any where.

And, it's just a matter of time before we find a strategy to get these criminals out of power. It's not a good idea to piss people off this badly. :)

Blackwell, and what we truly lost. Makes me sad and angry yet again!
It's weird that the worse the repug party does, the better we will do. I wish
I had an inkling that both parties were 'in it' for our benefit. Ha!

33. I am being serious
Every Holocaust museum, every slavery museum, every museum of any kind had to start with a person who saw a need. That person then starts fundraising and talking about the project, going on speaking tours, applying for grants, and so forth. But every one of them started with somebody saying, "Hey, why isn't there a museum dedicated to this?"

You could start by contacting the people who built the Armenian Genocide Museum and Memorial. Here is a link to start with: http://www.armenian-genocide.org/Memorial.139/current_category.75/memorials_detail.html
