Tomorrow Wendy is Going to Die

It is complete now the two ends of time are neatly tied
A one-way street, she's walking to end of the line
And there she meets the faces she keeps in her heart and mind

They say 'good bye' Tomorrow, Wendy, is going to die,
They say 'good bye' Tomorrow, Wendy, is going to die,

Underneath the chilly gray November sky
We can make believe that Kennedy is still alive and
Were shooting for the moon and smiling Jackie's driving by and

They say 'good try'
Tomorrow Wendy is going to die
Tomorrow Wendy is going to die

I told the priest, Don't count on any second coming
God got his ass kicked the first time he came down here slumming
He had the balls to come, the gall to die and then forgive us
No, I don't wonder why, I wonder what he thought it would get us
Hey, hey, good bye
Tomorrow Wendy's going to die

Hey, hey, good bye
Tomorrow Wendy's going to die
Tomorrow Wendy's going to die

Only God says jump
So I set the time
'Cause if he ever saw her
It was through these eyes of mine!
And if he ever suffered it was me who did his crying

Hey hey, good bye
Tomorrow Wendy's going to die

Hey, hey, good bye
Tomorrow Wendy's going to die

Hey, hey, good bye

Tomorrow Wendy's going to die

Words by Andy Prieboy? Song, as I know it, by Concrete Blonde.

I'm about to embark on road trip, and listening to CD's that I might want to take with me ...

Remember "God is a bullet"?

God is a bullet have mercy on us everyone
They're gonna call me sir they'll all stop picking on me
Well I'm a high school grad I'm over 5 foot 3
I'll get a badge and a gun and I'll join the P.D.
They'll see

And there are also these lyrics, from Bloodletting, which also break my heart today:

I got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I’m going down by the river
Where it’s warm and green
I’m gonna have drink, and walk around
I got a lot to think about oh yeah

5. True, but the song belongs to Andy Prieboy.

If you can find Prieboy's album "Upon My Wicked Son" on which his own version of Tomorrow Wendy appears, grab it.

EDIT: Oops. I see you already gave the man credit, Synnical.

11. I Never Heard Of That Fellow, Sir
I will explore that link when on a machine able to accept sound files. If he wrote that song, he must be worth knowing of, though.

6. FWIW
Wendy's death was from AIDS.

Not explicit in the song, but that was the backstory I heard.

9. Concrete Blonde. Just a spot on the sidewalk in this city of sin...
I don't think I'd have made it through the 80's and 90's without them.

I was walking down the street early this morning
Past the graveyard, voices whisper to me.
I was walking down the street, early this morning
And the silver tears of rain hung from the leaves
And I swear I heard the voices singing to me...
Singing to the rhythm of the beat of my feet,
I swear I heard the voices singing to me -
Keep on, keep on, keep on.

Still in hollywood!
Oh wow! thought I'd be out of here by now.
Still in hollywood!
My, my I'm running on a wheel and I don't know why
I don't know why.

And on the bus today, I met the queen of L.A.,
At least she said she was and who am I to say?
She was sixty-five and full of life,
She had purple-painted cheeks
And glitter on her eyes...
And the troll on the corner, I flipped him a quarter
And he looked at me and smiled.
He wasn't abused, he wasn't confused,
He had nothing to gain and even less to lose, in hollywood

Oh wow! thought I'd be out of here by now.
Still in hollywood!
My, my I'm running like a rat and I dont know why

And so it's three a.m., I'm out walking again.
I'm just a spot on the sidewalk in a city of sin.
He doesn't give a fuck, he's living under a truck.
You know it coulda been me, guess it's just my luck.
But I swear I hear the voices singing to me -
Keep on, keep on, keep on.

10. Oh wow, people who know of Andy Prieboy?!
I knew him in college. He dressed exactly the same every day -- white shirt with the collar turned up, skinny black tie, ratty maroon corduroy jacket, jeans stuffed into knee-high black boots. Tall, lanky, handsome, moody, fascinating character!

13. Until the Karr thing cropped up...
I never took the 'The media needs a missing or dead white girl' thing seriously.

I was wrong.

To the pulp corporatist propaganda outlets... (like CNN, Fox...) it's all that
matters.
