And here comes Rockey with an E to assure everyone that, reports to the contrary notwithstanding, the recovery and rebuilding is just wonderful and Chucklenuts should get another term in office. Amazingly, Rockey shows up just in time to shift focus from Spike Lee’s damning documentary of the Bush Crime Family’s utter failure to provide even minimal relief to the people shattered by Katrina. A little P.S. here on Rockey: He’s not just a “little man” from the Gulf Coast. He’s a failed GOP politician who decided to do for Bush what Monica did for Clinton. Rove, you’re a genius.

A football player tackled hard enough may lose his helmet. Now, astronomers have found two clusters of galaxies that collided so hard one of them has lost its halo of dark matter, the mysterious invisible stuff that swaddles ordinary matter, according to measurements of the motions of stars and galaxies. In this picture, a composite based on observations with the Hubble Space Telescope, the Chandra X-Ray Observatory and other telescopes, the pink, bullet-shaped cloud of hot gas in a cluster speeding from left to right has been slowed and left behind by its dark matter, the blue blob to the right. Douglas Clowe of the University of Arizona and his colleagues mapped the visible light from galaxies in the colliding pair, known collectively as the Bullet Cluster, by observing the distortion of light from background galaxies. When clusters collide, galaxies, stars and dark matter continue unimpeded, but the hot gas, which makes up most of the ordinary matter in the cluster, is slowed. The astronomers said their measurements were the first detection of dark matter that did not depend on any particular theory of gravity.

you would have just laughed your head off..... 3 mos. old and like someone shot him out of a cannon. all he did was run around like this flash of grey light going by, but he was so aggressive that all my other cats were just having hysterical fits of outrage.... then he pee'd all over my bed to mark it. Little Sesame hissed at him all the time. So with heavy heart, I took him back, but cried for 2 days. I know he got another home, but he was so cute, and just purred his heart out. I am such a sucker for kittens. But I've decided not to replace him. My other cats now play with the "baby" and she's happy.......

The company calculated that it would save money by NOT recalling the vehicles but by letting the potential accidents caused by the defect happen. Came to public attention back in the 70s with the Ford Pinto; the gas tanks tended to explode when rear ended. It cost them less to pay out when people were killed than to add a $2 part. It was the same sort of analysis that told McDonalds to serve the coffee at 200 degrees, so they wouldn't have to clean the urns as often, even though people were terribly burned when they spilled it. The Explorer came along later, but it's the same ploy.

When will they ever learn?

My brother drove a Pinto. He traded it in for a chevy chevette, which was almost as bad. Nice way to treat a veteran, huh?
