Bush on Hurricane Katrina: "A one year anniversary is just that.."
Maybe I'm hyperventilating here, or making muchado about nothing. But I find this Bush quote on Hurricane Katrina really flippant and dismissive. If I'm overreacting...please feel free to say so.

Anyways, here's what Bush had to say on the impending one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina:

"It's a time to remember that people suffered and it's a time to recommit ourselves to helping them. But I also want people to remember that a one-year anniversary is just that, because it's going to require a long time to help these people rebuild."

Ok...the first thing that stood out at me like a thumb sore: he says "people suffered." People didn't just "suffer." People DIED, for crying out loud. People lost their lives.

Second thing: "a one year anniversary is just that..." I find that utterly dismissive and flippant. Would he say that if he were referred to the anniversary of 9/11?

2. WAIT. Is that really what he said. I saw that somewhere else and I
(why I don't know) didn't think he could be that ignorant, cold, calculating, and cruel.

Sometimes I'm dumber than a box of rocks.

4. People died in Katrina because Bush let them die! * is cold, cruel,
and heartless. He has no right to speak about the victims of Katrina. He still has done little to help them.

He couldn't get food, water, and rescue vehicles to the Superdome BUT he could lower the wages for the imported workers employed by Halliburton and the other crooked contractors who have gotten rich. That he did almost instantaneously. What a creepy jerk he is!

6. Sometimes a one-year anniversary is just a one-year anniversary
You know, like sometimes a death toll from a war is "just a number."

They have absolutely NO idea how horrible, thoughtless, and cruel they sound when they attempt to minimize the black spots on their record this way.

It used to be this White House never seemed to make a PR blunder or a faux pas...no matter what they did they always seemed to come out smelling like a rose with some people. But I think now the strain is showing at the seams...badly.

7. How come 9-11 was never just a date
and he has beat our ear drums with it for the last 5 years and is now berating us for forgetting
about it. Hmmmn, seems that we can't focus on what he don't like, well maybe if he hadn't went
on vacation after landfall was announced, he wouldn't be so quick to move past it now.

11. I can't believe how he exploited 9-11 to fuel his wars
Oh, he didn't want a Katrina moment, because it would not have advanced the neocon agenda of war,
more war.
