What blew up today about a GOP paid Katrina victim?

Someone made a reference on another thread, but I lost the thread. Apparently Bush had a token Katrina victim to hug and show his compassion and things didn't go as planned. Anyone know the story on this?

2. Rocky is Chucklenuts new bestest friend.

The guy in today's White House photos is a wannabe politico than has run on the repug ticket for office - don't think he won - but he has been active in repug politics for years. That they are desperate enough to drag him out before the cameras would be funny is not so pathetic.

Check out this thread. There was a staged photo op today with Chucklenuts and a moran from New Orleans that begged to be allowed to visit Chimpy in the Oval Office "to thank President Bush" for all he has done. Afterward they walked outside and this guy, Rocky, said before the camera that he was so thankful for Chimpy, and for him to keep up the good work. Then said he wished Chimpy had four more years to help the country. Paraphrasing, but you get the gist.

Paul Begela, on CNN, said he would speak with unclean hands, since he had staged more than his share of photo ops for Clinton, but that guy was shameless. Said Rocky and Chucklenuts should remember how the government failed New Orleans and that people died.

3. Are you thinking of the Bassier sisters?

When Bush visited the area last September, he hugged two young women (the Bassier sisters) and the situation led to a lot of speculation about whether they were actual storm victims. (They were surprisingly clean & didn't want food or water.)

Could that be what you're thinking of?

edit: oops, never mind. You must have been thinking of the Rocky V story!

4. I think the story is that the "typical" Katrina victim who towed a

trailer to DC today to personally thank Bush for his help turned out to be a Republican politico. For what it's worth, this story didn't make it onto the news show I watched. More and more the networks are just ignoring Bush. Half the time I watch the news and learn about what Bush has been up to only because I visit DU and watch the Daily Show!

7. Really... since I know how bad ours smells after a day or two...

(and we use Feline Pine) and years ago we did a rescue at a home where the lady had been hospitalized and had to leave her kitties for almost a week before someone called us, I can easily imagine how gastly after 4 weeks that would smell and figured it made an appropriate, although disgusting, analogy.
