When The Levies Broke - Will Be Re-shown 8/29 - All 4 Acts
"When the Levies Broke", Spike Lee's documentary about the flooding of New Orleans after hurricane Katrina struck nearby, will be shown again at 8:00 PM Eastern on August 29. All 4 acts will be shown in 4 hours. The program will then be re-aired a number of times during the month of September.

If you missed it the first time you might want to try to see it when its shown again. It was very well made.

Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 8:00 PM

What evil fucking bastards make up the republican machine that controls this country AND OUR VOTING MACHINES. This shows what we will ALL eventually look like if we don't get rid of republicans.

on edit: Most of the yard signs were dissing FEMA. I want to remind old-time DUers of ALL THE RESEARCH THREADS we did (with Kephra transcribing the debate in the halls of congress), which showed that the Act passed by congress setting up the Dept. of Homeland Security (what a fucking misnomer) was going to be a sham from the first. FEMA is a BRANCH of the Department of Homeland (In)Security, and it's the republican president and congress that made this mess.

Sometimes I wonder if America will EVER be rebuilt from the destructions of the republicans.

13. That's why whenever I write about them
I always try to refer to them has HS/FEMA. There is a big difference between Bush's HS/FEMA and FEMA under Clinton.

7. Thanks ThomWV
I watched 3 & 4 last night. I am telling everyone I know to watch it, if they can. I'll try to have an open house next week. Like the sign said, "NOT AS SEEN ON TV."

9. That is a good idea. Put out the word and have people over.
you can hand out a door prize of blue tarp and canned food/water. (Actually, I did that for a Katrina benefit we had, made an emergency kit for doorprize.)

10. I don't know if I can watch it again . . .
Spike Lee has done a great service with this magnificent piece, but watching it is both hugely depressing and extremely infuriating . . . makes you want to cry and punch someone, all at the same time . . .

I'll probably watch, though . . . sorta feel that I have to, despite the emotions it stirs up . . . that is, after all, its purpose . . .

12. Thanks for the heads up. I missed the first two parts on
Monday night and I tried to watch Part III and Part IV on Tuesday, but I feel asleep. We had a very busy weekend with a wedding and dealing with friends and family from out of town.

This will definitely be taped and given out to friends and family that don't have HBO. Even though I missed the majority of the previous airing, what I did see on Tuesday night was excellent.

As for that "puppet" that showed up on the news yesterday, how convenient. Mr. Wonderful and myself were both wondering who paid him for that stunt???
