Need link -- US help with British terror plot
Don't ask me why I'm fighting with a kool-aid drinker, but I am. I plan to ask for her sources (probably Limbaugh or someone worse), but I'd like to be prepared ahead of time with my own source.

She's claiming that the US spying helped to catch the British terror plotters. (I'm not EVEN going to try convincing her it's a hoax.) I know there's no way to prove a negative, but if I could find one credible article that stated there's no evidence the US spying helped at all, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, DU

(In the meantime, I'll check media matters.)

1. US thought to have hindered, not helped, the investigation:

Indeed in their rush to attempt to deliver some kind of proof to the electorate that they have been making progress the Administration may have undermined the British in their efforts. Whether in an over zealous sense of caution or in a politically motivated stunt the U.S. pushed for the arrests earlier than the British wanted, U.S. officials have denied this on the record. However many officials have confirmed this off the record according to NBC news.

As a result of this rush to bust the cell it is widely believed that several members escaped, others have already been released due to a lack of evidence. Beyond this more may end up getting off with a slap on the wrist due to a lack of evidence. This isn’t the first time we have rushed the Brits, the last time we did ended in tragic results.

Once again British officials are privately saying that they were not able to roll up the entire plot due to American interference while U.S. officials feign innocence. Another case of history repeating itself?

2. Doesn't seem like the US knew much except monitoring chatter:

Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Michael Jackson said his agency had known for several days of the unfolding plot but waited for a signal from the British to announce it.

A congressman briefed by intelligence officials, who did not want to be identified because of the sensitivity of the investigation, said U.S. intelligence had intercepted terrorist chatter and British intelligence helped thwart the plot through undercover work.

I'd forgotten to hit her with that. Should be fun.
