"...I believe I made a horrible mistake..."
A C-SPAN caller's quote from this morning's show. He said he was a Republican and had voted for George W Bush and he believed he made a "horrible mistake". Is it possible that many good Americans that had voted with the Republican Party are now starting to see the light?

2. Chances are that they ARE choking on it
because they're having to admit to US that they were gullible and greedy and voted for a man hell bent on destroying this country and most of the people in it.

9. I would think that if a repuke said he made a mistake
we would view that as a prime conversion candidate, rather than a chance to say 'choke on it.'

That's all.

That's what I'm angling for...saying you made a mistake doesn't mean anything if you fall back into the same dumbassed rut.

7. Dear C-Span caller: Yes, you did make a horrible mistake.
And the rest of us are suffering because of your ignorance. The lives of our troops lost in the needless war in Iraq are partially your responsibility, distributed equally among everyone who voted for the coward named George W. Bush.

The man you voted for didn't serve his country admirably in the military, nor has he been successful at ANYTHING he has ever attempted to do, except for his abuse of alcohol and illegal drugs, which he was successful at getting addicted to.

There is nothing you can do to right the wrong you have imposed upon the country, but you should go about making sure other Republicans know the error or their ways, and understand how important it is that the balance of power be restored in November. And that means they will need to vote for Democratic candidates.

Republicans are all about fear, war, death, and destruction. Democrats are all about equality, hope, peace, and rebuilding. The way for you to go is clear.

10. I'm not a nice person
I've gotten meaner and more selfish since the election because that's what you have to do to make it in George W. Bush's America.

That guy can go to hell.

11. The first time it was a horrible mistake...
Edited on Wed Aug-23-06 10:47 AM by Virginia Dare
the second time it was craven stupidity and unforgivable ignorance. There is blood on the hands of every single person that voted for the Bush/Cheney ticket in 2004. No excuses.

Sounds like something one of us might have pulled. The whole point of supporting Bush is not admitting you were ever wrong.

22. One thing they don't say, or even address, is the thought behind
their "horrible mistake".

They were in favor what shrub claimed to stand for, they're just disappointed that he lied to them too. IOW, if he had, in fact, rounded up all the "queers" and "libruls" and "Mexicans", and dissolved the government, killed all those "a-rabs", and imprisoned more citizens for burning a piece of cloth (made in China), established an amerikan theocracy, they would be still be happy.

Hardly what I'd call "seeing the light". :eyes:

23. Well, you can just look at the polls to see that there are many,
if not the majority, of Republicans that know they made a mistake when they voted for Bush. But that in no way indicates that they're going to vote for the Democratic candidate in upcoming elections. They just wouldn't vote for Bush again.

26. .
I heard a lot of stories about Republicans seeing the light before the 2004 election and it didn't help. And it won't help as long as the Republicans keep putting issues like gay marriage and other issues on the ballot.
As soon as the serious campaigning starts for the next general election, this caller will most likely be a sure vote for McCain again.
