Street corner evangelists
Last night I had to pick up a new battery for my truck from the auto parts store, which just so happens to be in the same suburban plaza as one of the fifteen Wal-Marts in our area. When I pulled in, I noticed that the street corner evangelists were assembling around their vehicles as they often do in this area of town to attract visibility during high traffic rush hour.

As I am leaving and waiting at the red light, one of the individuals approaches my vehicle, literally 3 feet from my window, (IN the intersection, mind you) and begins going on and on at the top of his lungs about damnation and the way, the truth, and the light...etc. etc.

The man then proceeds to ask me a series of questions to which I respond "Have YOU accepted the hypocrisy in our government who claims ties to the very same religion that you claim to embody this very evening?" More of the same scripted bullsh*t comes from this man as he raises his voice louder yet. I then proceed to ask him how his religion supports the violent killing of innocent civilians in Lebanon and the occupation of the Middle East in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the attempt to pull Syria and Iran into the very same conflicts, again by men who claim to be of sound religious heart and mind.

There was a second man on an adjacent corner, with his young wife and infant child who noticed that the man I was questioning was becoming uncomfortable with MY approach to the situation and walks over screaming that he has seen a vision of evil, and that I am incarnate of all evil in this world. He puts his hand on my truck window with one hand, and reaches INTO my vehicle with the other to point at me all while screaming his meme.

At this point, I had had enough, I very calmly explained to both of them that if they did not take their hands off of my vehicle, that I would report them to the police. At this point, the man, hands sill on my vehicle yells out, looking around for others to acknowledge him, that "The same government that this gentleman of evil decries will be the same government that this gentleman will use to block us from engaging in the truth ladies and gentleman."

Finally I put the truck into Park, unlocked the door and used to the door to push this man away from my truck, literally .3 of a second away from putting my foot into it, however restraint somehow overcame the situation, and the gentleman realized what he was up against, turned his back to me, walking away with his bible above his head screaming at the new set of cars that have caught the red light in the opposite direction.

WHO THE F DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE!?

3. I would have rolled the window up on his arm, put the truck in gear...
...and told him to start praying.

That kind of behavior is extremely dangerous. I find myself very lucky I've hardly ever met such fucking morons.

6. Do not engage in an argument with fools
or those who are insane. Leave them to their rantings.

7. Wind up the window, drive away
If they get their hands out in time, fine. If not, well, it's their problem.

11. I had a guy who motioned for me to roll down my car window at a
very busy intersection here in town a few months ago. Thinking he needed directions, a problem with my car, etc. I rolled down the window and this "Moran" asked me about my DU bumper sticker. Just told him that it was a progressive web site for Democratic people. (Guess we both were on a "recruiting" mission!)

He then lit into me about being godless (all because of a Democratic bumper sticker mind you), yadda, yadda, yadda. He then bragged that he personally was responsible for the aborted fetuses billboards and ad campaigns and that I should "get right" with God. He was so proud that he had paid to put up billboards that was offensive to any and all who saw them. They love nothing more than to "shock you to God."

I told him that if he was a representative of God then I wanted nothing to do with him or his god. That he represented the very worst in religion today and that nothing he said or did represented anything remotely close to what I think a kind and loving god would want as his spokesman.

This guy turned five shades of red and started yelling at me because I attacked his "religiousosity" and that I was going to hell for having the audacity to question him and his righteousness. I just smiled, slid my window up, and gave him a very dismissive flip of my hand. Thank goodness the light changed and I turned left.

It always amazes me what these supposedly religious nuts consider "preaching the word" to strangers on street corners and stop lights. That they are threatened and feel the need to attack a bumper sticker is just shows how pathetic and weak their whole sham is.
