Forced Abortion by Corrupt GOP: "I see girls whose bleeding did not stop"

Sex Slaves & Forced Abortion On US Territory Allowed By Bribed Republican Party

Since the Corporate Media will never tell the truth about the Republican corruption of Abramoff, Bush and Delay and many others in the GOP concerning the Marianas nightmare, I will.

Here is more about the GOP-supported forced abortions and sex slavery on the Marianas Islands, a US Protectorate and run by the Interior Department. Bribed by the Tan family of Hong Kong and others, the Republicans have fought back Democratic bills to end actual forced abortions, forced labor and outright sex slavery.

From Paradise Lost, Ms Magazine:

Despite the squalid living conditions, the young guest workers want to stay at their jobs long enough to make their sacrifices worthwhile. But if they happen to get pregnant while working in Saipan, they’re faced with a new nightmare. According to a 1998 investigation by the Department of Interior Office of Insular Affairs, a number of Chinese garment workers reported that if they became pregnant, they were “forced to return to China to have an abortion or forced to have an illegal abortion” in the Marianas.

...

With few economic options, pregnant workers often feel they have no choice but to visit one of Saipan’s underground abortion providers. At least four acupuncture clinics offer pills to induce abortions, according to a local translator and former garment worker.

“I’ve driven four Chinese women to get abortions here,” he says, pointing to an inconspicuous cement building with red Chinese lettering and an English sign that reads “Acupuncture, Herbs, Massage Oils.” “I see girls whose bleeding did not stop, and on two incidents I had to take the girls to the hospital.”

Wendy Doromal statement to the Senate's Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, March 31, 1998:

An increase in the trafficking of minor girls and young women from the Philippines and the People's Republic of China who have been hired as waitresses or garment factory workers but forced to work as prostitutes and strippers in the ever-increasing number of karaoke bars, discos, beauty parlors, massage parlors and clubs; - The continuing problems with the garment industry including Chinese law being enforced on U.S. soil behind the barbed wire fences surrounding garment 'factories and barracks; the existence of shadow contracts that restrict religious freedom and other rights contrary to U.S. law, the flow of Chinese workers from the CNMI into Guam to seek asylum; pregnant Chinese women being forced by their employers to return to China to have an abortion or to have an abortion performed in the CNMI

To gather facts that would reflect the present situation in the CNMI, we conducted face-to-face interviews with private attorneys, government officials, private citizens, advocates, religious !eaSters, and about 250 Bangladeshi, 120 Filipinos, 30 Nepalese, 14 Chinese, and a representation of Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistani and Thai foreign contract workers. We also visited work sites, abortion clinics, massage parlors, clubs and 32 different barracks and houses where workers live. We documented our findings with notes, workers' statements, copies of legal documents, current newspaper articles, video tapes, and photographs.

The girls at the club appeared as young as fifteen years old. The youngest said she works 7 days a week and receives pay only for "ladies drinks" which customers buy for $12.00 each in order to talk to and proposition the women. The workers get $6.00 for each ladies drink that is sold. The young girl said that she doesn't like her job, yet she has no choice but to work there. Another woman working at the club said that most of the nine women working there were originally hired to come to Saipan as factory workers. Instead they were forced to work in a club. The woman said she would give a massage for $70 and upon further questioning stated she would "make love" for $70.

The growing practice of recruiting young Chinese women for legitimate employment and forcing them into prostitution was further verified by a recent newspaper article in the Marianas Variety. It stated that a police complaint had recently been filed by two Chinese women who were forced by their employers to become prostitutes. The police report classified the case as "prostitution' and stated, "Appeared at DPS Central and reported two Chinese women were hired as waitresses instead they were told to work as prostitutes."

The face of Saipan has changed since we left two years ago. There has been a tremendous increase in the number of Karaoke bars, clubs and massage parlors in recent years. The major increase appears to be in Korean and Chinese owned clubs massage parlors, and beauty parlors that offer massage in back rooms. The majority of these establishments are fronts for prostitution. A U.S. Labor Investigator went to a beauty parlor for a haircut and was approached by the owner's wife who asked him if he wanted sex. The woman told him that all the clubs, bars and Karaoke clubs in Saipan would provide sex if the customer wants it and pays the woman up front.

The trafficking of minor girls from the Philippines and China to be used as prostitutes and to perform sex acts on stage is a widespread problem that local immigration appears to be ignoring entirely. Hundreds of girls have been brought into the CNMI with falsified papers and passports.

We spoke to garment factory workers who confirmed that Chinese women who became pregnant were forced to return to China to have an abortion or have one in one of the unlicensed clinics that operates in the Saipan. In the CNMI abortion is unconstitutional so there are no licensed hospitals, clinics or physicians who can legally perform the procedure.

Most of the Chinese women have abortions at one of the Saipan clinics which are disguised as acupuncture clinics, and clinics that offer massage and Chinese medicine. Two have been positively identified as abortion clinics.

It was a disappointment to learn that the new governor is going to retain the lobbying firm of' Preston, Gates. To me this action demonstrates that he also is not committed to reform. The very fact that this lobbying firm also represents the garment industry of the CNMI should send up red flags. As reported by the media, Willy Tan, James Lin and the garment industry are the true rulers of the CNMI. Press articles suggest that CNMI garment tycoons financially back candidates to gain political favors such as special deals on land leases, taxes, wage rollbacks for the garment industry, and other demonstrations of favoritism. It is no secret that CNMI and Federal officials in the CNMI who are not elected also have links to these individuals.

Here is more on the sex slavery:

“I thought I was coming to work as a dancer,” says a young Filipina woman, her voice barely a whisper as she speaks behind a curtain of her hair. “I was so surprised on the first night in the club when they told me I had to strip. The only way to get tips was by picking up the money with your breasts and your vagina. And there was a VIP room in the back where people could have sex.”

...

The guest worker system inherently denies rights to foreign employees, and this, paired with a lack of government intervention, creates a “breeding ground for slavery,” says Jolene Smith, executive director of Free the Slaves and an expert on human trafficking.

The saddest tale we’re told in the Marianas comes from a 24-year-old Filipina who is afraid to give her name. She and the 22-year-old woman sitting on a couch beside her came to Saipan last fall after recruiters offered them $400 a month to work as waitresses. Her 14-month-old son had died of dehydration the year before when she didn’t have enough money for his medication. So, she couldn’t turn down the recruiters, she whispers, because she believed it would enable her to provide a better life for her surviving 3-year-old son.

But, “they forced me to work like a prostitute,” she says. They were expected to have sex with as many as four men per day and given but one daily meal of noodles. “The boss lady told me if I don’t work, I won’t return back to the Philippines or see my son, and they will file a complaint and I’ll go to jail.”

We need to use this as a club to defeat the Republicans this Fall. In the Ralph Reed loss in Georgia, the ads by Cagle on the Marianas Forced Abortion caused many evangelicals formerly for Reed to stay home and not vote. So the works really well on several levels.

And the Democrats had reform bills repeatedly shot down by the Total Fucking Bastard Party.

5. The more I read about what the Marianas is like now, the more
it sickens me that it flies our flag. From what I have read, the local population has largely fled if they have any gumption to Hawaii or Seattle or California, leaving a largely welfare-supported population of do-nothing politicians where being in the right clan gets you a job, rather than any experience and that the controlling families overturn one another regularly. All the while, the corporate Republicans let them get away with a dual-status for foreigners on Saipan. Luckily, there are some native Marshallese who are revolting against the system and calling for reform of it all, but they face huge opposition, as many like it "just like it is..." with the Marshallese on top, the Haolis doing the non-governmental work and Uncle Sam and the facotory owners' Chinese, Vietnamese and Filipina girls doing all the rest. It is a Neocon Paradise, ergo Hell on Earth with golf courses and mai tais.

7. Also, products manufactured in Saipan are allowed to carry

the "Made In the USA" label. But there are no labor laws in Saipan; 12-year-olds making 50 cents an hour are making "Made In The USA" products. No wonder the Republicans love the place.

8. Ralph Reed is big supporter of this
He tells his flock about the wonderful "Christianity" that is flourishing on the island and how the godless heathens find Jesus and return home to China with bibles in hand ready to spread the message of love. He said the Dems who support fair labor laws and human rights laws are really just a bunch of anti-christian atheist bastards who are just trying to advance our sinful liberal agenda.

He invests heavily in the factories there and has made a killing. On a completely un-related note, you can always trust wealthy religious leaders. Actually you can always trust anyone who has invested in whatever they are making an unbiased decision on. Fair and Balanced... :puke:

13. Abortion was OK in 1970 for Bush when he needed it done
Larry Flynt had some PI's track down the woman who was knocked up by Bush in 1970/1971 in Texas and she had an abortion. The PI's found the woman's friends at the time and the doctor who did the abortion. When they found her, she was working at a minimum wage waitress job. When they went back to talk to her again, she was living in a $500,000 house in Houston and wouldn't talk to them.
