Idea to make DU even better (I think) -- Wouldn't it be cool to have
a category for television shows to alert DUers to grab some  and plan an evening in front of the TV (or at least set the VCR/TIVO?)

Real Time with Bill Maher's new season starts on Friday, Nancy Pelosi is on Letterman tonight, Spike's Katrina documentary is on, etc.

I like to hear when interesting things are on CSPAN (such and such is going to be rebroadcast at 10PM), NOVA shows, Frontline shows.....

It would be great to go to a date and look to see interesting listings for progressive-oriented shows. DUers could add to the list.

It could look something like this:

Tue., Aug 22

Pelosi on Letterman, CBS, check local listings
Spike Lee Katrina documentary, HBO, whatever time it's on
Something on CSPAN
Something on PBS
Something on FOX (a joke)

As it stands now, lots of good "TIVO alerts" get lost in the massive flood of GD posts.

I'm not sure how this could all be pulled off, or whether this had been discussed before.

Thought I'd just throw it out........maybe my fellow Duers have some suggestions or thoughts?

FYI, "CB4, mind your own damn business" will not count as a suggestion or thought :)

1. I think it's a great idea to have it all in one place
The TV chat group doesn't get a ton of traffic, but maybe this kind of stuff could just be directed there.

6. Pretty Obvious The OP Isn't Talking About Normal Entertainment Shows
It is self evident that the OP is addressing those programs considered progressive or of popular interest to our goals and causes, the value being that more of DU would be aware of the existance and timing of such programs.

8. I just don't think it would be a very complete list there because lets be
honest, how much traffic does that forum get on a daily basis?

Probably not a lot.

General Discussion is where you learn everything.

5. We will fight to save America... by watching TV
I think the DU Activist Corps makes a little more sense that just sending folks off to watch more bad news come in.

As an English teacher, I'm trained to spot redundancies like this. I mean, isn't everything on Fox a joke?

7. There Are Many Politically Educational Programs That Can Be Caught On The
tube. Without awareness and education of the issues as well as the facts behind them, any movement is worthless.

10. how about LBN?
Just so everyone knows to go there to look for "tv alerts". It would have to be defined as "this is on today" in order to be really LBN.

13. Yea, that would be good......but it would almost have to be computer
formatted by Elad so it remains at the top (no matter where it goes.)

Otherwise, it would probably cycle too quickly and be lost on page 3 or 4.

14. I like this idea. A TV/Radio Highlights box
on the front page.

It would link you to whichever inside forum.
But the concise thing would be great for when ya can't scroll through gazillion messages to just igure out who's on Press the Meat
