Conservative activists "target" hotel porn
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14468659/

From a "former" porn addict no less. What the hell is a porn addict anyway? It must be as bad as heroin the way this asshole talks about it.

Ten bucks say's the prick still watches it, just makes sure he hides the discs from the old lady. Besides, I think that the vast majority of 3 minute movie club members in hotel rooms are self-described "church-goin" conservatives just happy to be out of the house so they do a little rubbin without having to keep an ear out for the family coming up the stairs.

1. The Biggest Media Companies In The World Produce That Hotel Porn
And they are making many billions of dollars a year off of it. It would be quite a challenge to get them to stop.

3. Related...the Romney Mormon Porn Connection
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A15644-2004Dec21?language=printer

.....Follow the Money

Spencer, the Mormon defense attorney in Utah County, said he couldn't help but be struck by a larger point: Big corporate America -- a staunch GOP ally -- was lining its pockets selling raunch to the masses, including the red state nation.

"A lot of it's coming from Republicans," Spencer said, referring to the corporate culprits who profit from smut. Spencer said he considers himself a Republican.

It's almost impossible to get a handle on how much money corporate America is reaping by peddling smut. General Motors Corp. is not eager to brag about how many dirty movies it sold last year through a subsidiary.

In the Utah County trial, Spencer asked the jury why a lone, small business vendor like Peterman should be held to a higher standard than the likes of W. Mitt Romney. At the time Romney was on the board of Marriott International, which was making huge margins on piping porn into hotel rooms. Currently, Romney is the Republican governor of Massachusetts and his travels around the country have helped fuel speculation that he might run for president in 2008.

Perhaps the most extensive mainstream media treatment on this subject ran four years ago in The New York Times. In a 4,000-word investigative opus, writer Timothy Egan connected the dots between porn and big corporate profits:

"The General Motors Corporation, the world's largest company, now sells more graphic sex films every year than does Larry Flynt, owner of the Hustler empire. The 8.7 million Americans who subscribe to DirecTV, a General Motors subsidiary, buy nearly $200 million a year in pay-per-view sex films from satellite, according to estimates provided by distributors of the films, estimates the company did not dispute. .......

15. The article is not new
http://www.answers.com/topic/directv

History
DirecTV was launched in 1994 by General Motors subsidiary Hughes Electronics. It was the first high-powered DBS service in the world.
In 1998 DirecTV acquired its partner, USSB for $1.3 billion. In 1999 DirecTV acquired PrimeStar for $1.83 billion. In 2003, a merger with EchoStar, owner of Dish Network, fell through.
On December 22, 2003, General Motors sold controlling interest in Hughes Electronics to News Corporation.
On November 15, 2005, DirecTV stopped carrying Music Choice audio-only channels, replacing it with 72 channels of XM Satellite Radio.

They continue to enjoy an affiliation, despite the change in 'controlling interest':

...As an added benefit to being a GM Cardmember, you may enjoy savings on products and/or services provided by companies affiliated with GM (such as Direct TV), as well as companies with which GM has established a partnership. https://www.householdaccount.com/gm/CustomerCare?cmd_Redirect=Privacy

4. hear hear! outlaw minibars while you're at it...
After all, having that ready alcohol is just too much temptation for alcholics (for whom I have much more sympathy than supposed "porn addicts"), so it should be denied to everyone.

And those sugar packets are harmful to diabetics, so they're right out as well.

And Faux News is harmful to the poor idiots who are addicted to that, so that should be removed as well... wait, I kind of like that idea.

5. It's worse than you think! Here's a blast from the past:
Mental health professionals say porn not only affects the mind and behavior, it alters brain chemistry.

On November 18, Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) chaired a hearing of the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Space on "The Science Behind Pornography Addiction."
---------
Dr. Reisman specializes in the communication effects of images on the brain, mind and memory; fraud in the human sexuality field; and the addictive properties of sexually explicit images, commonly called pornography. She emphasized how pornography not only influences behavior but also actually alters brain chemistry, making children most vulnerable to its toxic imagery.

6. Use of that porn spikes during religious conventions
I've read before that the pay per view porn in hotels has a spike in it's usage when there is a baptist or other conservative christian convention in town.

It's called being a hypocrite.

14. A religious woman's group is also making this an issue
I emailed them and said since (as you pointed out) pay per view porn spikes during religious conventions then they should start cleaning their own house first. I suggested that while the convention may be at the hotel, their husbands can still stay at the local Motel 6, which does not have porn, and that the wives should book them into them and then call them at around 10:30 p.m. to make sure they're there.

Yes, it may seem like they're being intrusive harpies at first, but in the long run, their husbands will thank them for saving them from the temptation of porn.

I never got a reply.

10. I just missed the Rapture
because I was looking at porn. There was a knock at the door so I opened it. It was Jesus, he looked in to see what I was doing and he said, "Awwww you missed it by this much." He was holding his fingers up with a little space between them.

There is a bright side though, I get to eat all the food that those crazy fucks stockpiled. Mmmmmmm Beenie Weenies and canned peaches.

13. The anti-porn zealots remind me of anti-gun...
... zealots. In both cases you have a delusional bunch who think they can stop people from getting what they want, when what they want is everywhere.

If they could talk some hotels to stop selling porn, the guests would just use the high speed internet link provided to grab some on their notebook computer :)
